With a dominant win over Brazil, LeBron James and Co. booked their spot in the semi-final. Now, all eyes were on the women’s team as they took center stage to face Nigeria in their first game of the knockouts. Sure enough, as the ladies continued their pursuit for an 8 consecutive Gold, Steve Kerr’s side and several legendary athletes joined in to witness the thriller. It was during Team USA vs. Brazil that we saw A’ja Wilson sitting courtside with Snoop Dogg to support the men. As expected, it was time for them to return the favor and they sure did!
Despite the unfortunate injury he suffered during the Brazil encounter, which led to him getting 4 stitches, LeBron James still showed up to the women’s quarter-final game with a bandage over his eye, accompanied by his wife Savannah. Sitting courtside with them were Team USA stars Devin Booker and Bam Adebayo.
But the star power’s support system did not end there. Cheering on the Women’s Team USA, 23-time Olympics gold medallist Michael Phelps was also in attendance accompanied by his wife Nicole and 7-month-old son Nico, sitting right next to the Team USA’s stars. Even two-time gold medallist Katie Ledecky showed up after dominating multiple swimming events. That’s not all!

As expected, Team USA women kept their winning streak alive and blew Nigeria out 88-74 to advance to the next round. Continuing her dominant run in Paris, A’ja led the charge as she finished with 20 points. On top of that, she also completed her double-double by grabbing 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, Brittney Griner added 11 points off the bench and kept Nigeria away from making a comeback.
Moreover, Team USA extended its Olympic legacy as the victory over Nigeria marked the team’s 59 straight win at the prestigious event. But Nigeria, keeping the game close in the beginning, taught the Americans a valuable lesson as Wilson remarked, “Our starts have to be great because that team on the other end, they’re trying to take our heads off.”
Veteran leader Diana Taurasi has her eyes set on the prize, “Nigeria, Australia in two days. These teams are hard. They’ve played together for a long time. We’ve been together for two and a half weeks and we’re trying to figure it out. And it’s always been our strength to be unselfish. Next man up, next woman up, to win a gold medal.”
