The Los Angeles Lakers lost 120-134 to the Golden State Warriors at home as the latter improved to 44-35. The final word on Anthony Davis‘ availability had already caused many to panic. And with LeBron James not even at the arena until there was only an hour left took it to the next level. But if the Lakers fans thought another one of James’ big nights could get them through a determined GSW, it was in vain.
The post-game talks from LeBron showed how a mistake on their part cost them dearly. The Purple & Gold left Draymond Green open until the veteran forward hit all his five threes. Similar to the Warriors’ disrespect of Jaylen Brown, LA decided to leave Green unguarded. Big mistake!
“They got it going early,” James said. “Had five for five from three. You have to tip your cap to him [Draymond Green], you know… you go out with a game plan and when they exploit the game plan, you tip the cap to him. He definitely mess with our gameplan.”

The Warriors’ Splash Brothers were on a roll, with DrayMagic looking like the third brother. Green went five-of-seven from downtown while landing 15 points, six rebounds, and 10 assists. Stephen Curry, for his part, went 6-of-6 from beyond the arc with 23 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. Klay Thompson, however, led the team in scoring with 27 points. He was 5-of-10 from the three-point line as well.
The Los Angeles Lakers’ playoff situation doesn’t look too good
With tonight’s loss, the Lakers fall 45-35 in the season. This second loss got them one step closer to falling to 10th place. While the Warriors won the season series 3-1 vs Los Angeles, the latter lost the season series to Sacramento, too. That fact just makes the play-in situation almost inevitable.

Now they are 2.5 games behind for the sixth place that would have gotten them an automatic berth for the playoffs. The New Orleans Pelicans currently occupy the sixth position. And with just two games left for the regular season, one with the Memphis Grizzlies, and the final with the Pelicans, things aren’t looking too good. However, staying steady on 9th could gain them an opportunity to redeem against the Warriors in play-ins and possibly make the playoffs in further triumph.
