LeBron and KD teaming up—Is this the ultimate betrayal for Lakers fans?

Kevin Durant and LeBron James faced similar hate when they both left their beloved teams. Bron became the most hated player when he left Cleveland in 2010. However, when he returned in 2014, things seemed to have shifted back to how they were. But then again, in 2016, KD’s move to the Warriors was heavily criticized. Nevertheless, they won a couple of championships in the process and etched their names in history. Recently though, an ex-Laker compared James joining the Heat to KD’s addition to the already title-contending team, the Dubs, and didn’t seem to be too wowed about it.

Nick Young, a former Laker and Warrior, was once caught in a poster after D-Wade and King James’ iconic alley-oop plays. But to this day, Young still believes that Bron may have pushed him. “He push me? I said, he push me?”, Swaggy P said while nervously chuckling on Club 520 Podcast. Nevertheless, his thoughts on the Chosen One and the Slim Reaper switching teams were quite interesting.

Now, the Miami Heat were decent before LeBron James came in alongside Chris Bosh. At the same time, the Warriors were already a championship-level squad that got a boost with KD’s addition. In either case, the outcome was quite predictable, believes Nick Young. “I felt like, yeah they going to win, it’s like, it’s over. Same way when KD went to the Warriors. They gonna make it, you know that. It’s fun to play with them, it’s fun to play against them. But you like, know the outcome of what will happen,” Young asserted.

The 2017 Warriors are often regarded as one of the greatest teams ever assembled. On the other hand, LeBron James’ Heat is known to be a dominant team of the early 2010s. This leads to the question, ‘What if LeBron and KD joined forces?’. Or even better, what if the three protagonists of the league teamed up to form a super team?

Well, Steph Curry, KD, and James are the most popular players of the current generation. But at this point, it would be quite tough for the trio to team up anytime soon. Steph just signed a one-year extension. James will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2026. Whereas KD can look elsewhere too. If anything, the three can only link up in the Bay Area if that ever becomes possible.

Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Stephen Curry in one team would break the NBA

Even though the three are in the final years of their career, it is safe to say that they are still as impactful as they used to be. If they are to team up for the 2026-27 season and probably call it their last, it would be a season that will go down in history books. Three future Hall of Famers on one team for a season itself will surely break plenty of scoring records, but it will also be a bittersweet moment.

Have an interesting take?

LeBron James’ dominance was in full swing during his time with the Heat. Steph and KD had their highlights when they played together. Overall, these three players dominated the 2010s. With a combined 10 rings, 7 MVPs, and Final MVPs each, this trio will be something to witness.

But it will also require a huge sacrifice of Golden State’s future assets. With Steph’s $61 million comes KD and James’ $50+ million deal lasting a year. But of course, they can look to take less for the sake of a championship run and it being their final year.
