LeBron James might have a sweet tooth, but that never stopped the veteran legend from getting on the court and dunking on the next guy out there. Yes, he’s a “generation talent,” he’s the “Chosen One,” but that didn’t mean he did not put in the work. In fact, Bron spends over $1.5 million taking care of his body alone. From cryo chambers to personalized diets and in-house massages, the ‘King’ gives his body the utmost respect. Does he care about what other people think about his routines? We don’t think so.
And the result is what we see today – longevity and elite performances from a man who is pushing 40! Now we have further proof from a former teammate of the 4x champion as to the kind of work he puts in to stay in shape.

Quinn Cook, the Duke alum who went undrafted in 2015, and yet managed short stints with major NBA powerhouses like the Warriors and Lakers, shared quite a wild story about our man of the hour. Popular YouTuber, Sam Okauru, on his Jefe Island channel, had the 2x champ over for a short chat. And the story Cook had for us, is, in one word, wild.
“I hear like a grunt, somebody working out. I don’t know the facility all the way yet, and I got the wrong way. So the trainer’s like you trying to get back to the court, go that way. As I make another left to get to the court, we got to get to the weight room. LeBron’s in a full sweat! Drenched! Practice is at 10 o’clock. I got there at 7:00. I ate a meal for 15 minutes. It was probably 7:18, 7:20. [But] Bron’s [already] in there, full sweat getting after.”
Any Kobe Bryant fans here? Because for sure, this will sound familiar to you. Although there are multiple stories from teammates, coaches, and trainers about his work ethic, this one might just take the cake. A Team USA trainer once recounted the story of waking up to a call from the ‘Black Mamba’ at 4:15 AM. He wanted this trainer’s help with some conditioning work, and he was happy to help. A thoroughly sweat-drenched Kobe greeted him and it wasn’t even 5.
For the next two hours, they worked hard. And when they met later in the day at 11:00 AM, the trainer was shocked to learn that Kobe had just finished his workout, because he wanted to make 800 shots! Recognize a familiar pattern?
“And this is Bron in 2015, like 4 MVPs later, 2 rings later! Still working as if he’s trying to make the team, like I am. It just opened my eyes bro, and I had a different respect. This stuff doesn’t happen by accident. Obviously, these guys are generational players. They’re gifts from God. They are just different, but they work for it too.”

Can LeBron's intense workouts offset his infamous eating habits? What do you think?
Have an interesting take?
The 6’2 point guard, as mentioned above, had gone undrafted in 2015. So, naturally, he had a reason to be up that early and put in the extra work. However, as he pointed out, LeBron James had already done more than enough to silence all the naysayers and live up to the hype he had coming out of high school. So, to watch a legend like that working out like he’s yet to get a solid place in the NBA can definitely be enlightening, to say the least.
But remember what another teammate of the Akron hero had to say about his eating habits?
Former Cavs teammate once revealed the hilarious side of Bron’s “diet”
While it’s true that no one can disturb or disrupt James’ focus when he is fully committed to something, it seems his sweet tooth can turn out to be the villain. Or maybe not. Because per Tristan Thompson, it doesn’t matter if he downed a stack of sweet treats, LeBron James would still be able to drop a 20 any given night! Having spent time with the ‘Akron Hammer’ in his second stint with the Cavaliers, Thompson had the benefit of watching the hometown hero in all his glory.
While we might not have a word-for-word diet routine of the all-time NBA scorer, he has revealed glimpses of the kind of diet he follows on multiple occasions. For example, he avoids dairy and sugar when on a diet, opting for wholesome products like meat, fruits, vegetables, and fish. James also prefers a high-carb diet before training – whole wheat pasta, some veggies, and a salad on the side. In fact, he has this thing of challenging himself over the summer. It can range anything from learning something new to cutting sugar completely.
Knowing his weakness for sugary items, James challenged himself to go a whole summer without eating candy. And the transformation was stunning! A 260-270-pound monster turned into a lean 250-pound, all-muscle machine. “The great thing I got out of it is to see how my body transformed. It did make me quicker. It does help my team,” he admitted.
Thompson, though, would agree to disagree (about the sweet tooth, that is). “He has the wost fu****g diet ever,” the 2016 NBA champion revealed in an interview once. And why would he say that? Apparently, his breakfast consisted of 5 french toast with lots of syrup, strawberries, and bananas followed by a 4-egg omelet before going out and dunking on somebody! In fact, the 33-year-old said that King James loves to have dessert after every meal. Watching him had Thompson follow the same routine for a while until he stopped.

Well, more like he was forced to stop because there was no way his body was as comfortable as Bron’s getting hit by all that sugar. Given the way Bron switches up his diets, going from one extreme to another, it might work for him, but it’s not for everyone. “He’s really a specimen,” Tristan added. Now that, we can all agree on, can’t we?
