LeBron James: All hype or the real deal? What do you think about his 'no skill' clapback?

Head down, run through, and bang! That’s something we often see in the NBA court. And hey we aren’t even complaining because that’s a sight to behold. The scene becomes more riveting when the one doing so is LeBron James. But is that all LeBron does? Is his game built around spamming the drives? Many over the years have accused him of doing only that with one of his biggest haters, Kwame Brown reiterating the same recently. But LeBron isn’t going to let that pass as the Lakers star hits back at Kwame for his troubles.

In an IG story, LeBron shared a video of him executing a fade away and multiple mid-range shots to perfection while showing his post-game. The 39-year-old wrote, “Another game of clips of me just running fast and running people over to the basket! No Skill”, in the caption. The video is from LeBron’s 57-point game for the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Wizards after John Wall’s slander in the 2017-18 season. Wall accused the Cavs of intentionally ducking them in the playoffs for only LeBron to drop a dominant performance on them the next day. Maverick Carter shared the video on his IG story which LeBron shared, serving as a perfect response to Kwame Brown’s recent criticism.

During an episode of Swish Cultures’ podcast, Kwame claimed that even at 39, LeBron is a cut-and-slash type player who doesn’t have a post-game or developed a mid-range. “His game really hasn’t evolved outside of a 3 and putting his head down and going to the basket. He doesn’t go like Paul Pierce, getting to a spot, pulling up. Those are the things you normally see out of a superstar player,” Kwame further added.

Kwame also didn’t forget about LeBron’s son, Bronny, who is set to make his Lakers debut. Calling him a poor man’s Juan Dixon, the former Wizards star said, “I think he’ll bounce around. His daddy has enough power with Klutch Sports to keep him in the league, but after that, if he doesn’t learn how to play point, he’s gonna fizzle out,” highlighting the need for Bronny to learn how to play PG. But unlike his father, Bronny hasn’t responded to it. LeBron himself even admitted that criticism gets under his skin, but Jr. James is made of different metal.

LeBron James reveals son Bronny’s way of dealing with critics

Over his two-decade NBA career, LeBron James has been the subject of a lot of criticism. Being a public figure automatically comes as a packaged deal. While the remarks bother Daddy James, Bronny has a different approach to them. According to LeBron, “He (Bronny) doesn’t care.”

Drawing a comparison between his rookie season to that of Bronny, LeBron said that he cared a bit about the criticisms. “When I came in, I wanted people to like me, and some of the things that people were saying about me kind of bothered me early on in my career… He doesn’t give a f—,” stated the Lakers star while talking to Dave McMenamin of ESPN before the Paris Olympics.

When the Lakers drafted Bronny James, the 19-year-old faced backlash from the NBA community because of nepotism. However, it didn’t get to the young guard’s nerves. LeBron clarified, “He doesn’t even listen to that stuff. He’s like the coolest. He’s like the complete opposite of his dad. His dad will say something [to address the critics]. Bronny does not care… Everything that’s being said about him, he really does not care.”

Well, it seems like Bronny has the mental tools to succeed and shutting off all the noise around is a major attribute for a youngster coming into the league. But there’s still a long way to go. Bronny will be eager to shut down the critics by showing his talent on the hardwood like LeBron did. The duo will soon be together, creating history in the Purple and Gold, when LeBron, even in his 22nd season, will have something to prove to his never-ending array of critics.
