LeBron's reaction to Curry's apology—Is this the ultimate show of respect between NBA legends?

In their first exhibition game, Team USA stood out for a massive win against Team Canada. Yes, everyone, from LeBron James to Anthony Davis and even Stephen Curry rallied together to bucket a big W, kicking off their summer, 86-72. Although it was a bit slow and rough at first, the energy revved up later to get the win home. It was especially fun seeing LeBron and Steph play together. Even though they’re not on Parisian soil yet, Wednesday’s game gave us a unique insight into their eccentric dynamic.

As soon as news about Curry’s daughter’s birthday came to light, we endearingly saw LeBron displaying his camaraderie towards him. As Steph stood there, talking to the reporter, apologizing to his daughter for not being home, next to her, Bron tried to hype Curry up, exclaiming, “That’s fire!” You can actually see how giddy they were playing together, no matter what. Two peas in a pod?

Truly, a sacrifice well made by Papa Curry.

Curry has never played for Team USA in the Olympics before. But today, he looked more than ready to lead the country to achieve big milestones in Paris. GSW’s PG played flawlessly, scoring 12 points and 3 assists, with a jaw-dropping alley-oop toward Bron. Of course, Bron is going to hype someone, especially the person who he’s been waiting to play alongside for a long time.

And this wasn’t the first time we got to see Bron and Curry’s camaraderie. There’ve been many other instances in the past where both have shown why the NBA world desperately wants to see them play in one team.

LeBron James & Stephen Curry are the biggest fans of each other!

Given their individual talents, and teaming up together now, there’s no stopping the kind of energy Bron and Steph bring to the table. Here are some instances where their bond was on display:

NBA Giants born in the same hospital

Yes, Steph and Bron were born in the same hospital in Akron, Ohio, just 39 months apart. Call it fate, call it the waters of Akron, only the best talent is born there. While James was born and brought up there, Curry coincidentally was born when his father, Dell Curry, played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1987-88 season, which is when Sonya went into labor. So, their bond literally goes way back.

LeBron was even asked in 2012 whether the fact that Steph was born in Akron is the reason Curry is the way he is. All James had to say was, “That’s already self-explanatory.”

A surreal feeling

From playing against the person you admire to playing alongside him at the same time. It’s an altogether different feeling for any NBA player. It was the same for Steph. Before the first exhibition started, he was in awe of how hard Bron worked out during the practice sessions and decided to shower praises: “Having Bron as a teammate is surreal. You’ve had so many battles back and forth, you admire his game, you know what he’s about and to see the work up close and personal every day, to see how he prepares, how he talks in practice, I’ve never had that vantage point of him. Just excited to see how our games complement each other and build that chemistry that’s gonna help lead this team.”

AI and Curry changed the game!

Bron even went a step ahead to credit Curry for literally changing the landscape of the modern-day NBA. “Whenever that little light-skinned f-er came into the league that’s in Golden State, he changed that whole narrative. He single-handedly changed the ‘no lead is safe’. It’s like Pat Mahomes right now. Love that guy, I love Steph.” He followed up his praises by bringing Allen Iverson into the picture. “Steph and Allen Iverson are the two biggest influential guys in our game,”

Curry’s depth is the problem?

Even behind his back, Bron has nothing but flowers for Steph. On his pod, Mind the Game, the Laker applauded Curry’s depth and gravity that has helped his entire team. “The ball is not the problem with Steph Curry. He’s the f–king problem. Steph is most dangerous when he doesn’t have the ball. It’s not many guys in our league that’s most dangerous without the ball… Guarding Steph is uncomfortable.”

The statement came right after GSW defeated the Lakers in April this year.

Stephen Curry owes it to LeBron

LeBron has seen a multi-faceted Stephen Curry, from the time he joined the league till today when they are both aging like fine wine. Last year, in an interview, Curry humbly accepted the bond he shares with him and showed gratitude towards his guidance, even though they’ve always been rivals. “It’s complex because you go from you know me playing in the tournament him coming to watch me coming in as a young rookie in the league and him giving me advice on how to you know get through some of the early struggles that I was going to go through as a player to you know the four finals appearances in a row playing against each other.”

He even goes ahead and calls him a great friend. “Five-six years later we’re playing in the playoffs again so he’s a great dude, great friend, great competitor!

Today, Stephen Curry and LeBron James are what Magic Johnson and Larry Bird were back then.
