King James extends his NBA ‘legacy’. The wait is finally over. The Lakers drafted Bronny James as the 55th pick overall on the second day of the 2024 NBA Draft. This was the announcement that the LeBron James stans wanted to hear over all the damning criticism. While the fans erupted in joy, the legend dropped a wholesome post via his Instagram handle to inform the world about his son’s draft alongside his family.

The superstar just needed one word and a series of photos to transcend his emotions to his 159 million followers. The pictures included the father-son duo performing the ‘Between the legs’ dunk at a practice facility along with an image of them in the Lakers’ uniform. Importantly, one particular image had a lot of depth to it and directly spoke from the heart. It was the image of baby Bronny sitting courtside along with his dad, during his first Cavs‘ stint. And, rightfully, the caption read, “LEGACY!!!!!!” with two king emojis.

Savannah James also shared a similar emotion when she shared a picture of James holding baby Bronny after winning the Eastern Conference Championship in 2007 via her IG stories. The image not only reflected the superstar’s longevity but also the rich legacy that weighs on Bronny. On the other hand, the entire James family had an emotional moment at an “intimate dinner in New York” during the draft, as per ESPN. The superstar’s family, alongside Gloria James, Savannah’s family, and friends gathered together, awaiting Bronny’s Lakers draft. Notably, King James popped a bottle of champagne and followed it with an emotional toast. The pouring emotions weren’t only for the draft but the journey the 19-year-old went through over the last year.

A look back at Bronny James’ struggling phase

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin had a few insights about the James family’s private dinner, celebrating the superstar’s son’s draft. He revealed that the Akron Hammer‘s pouring emotions weren’t just about being the first father-son duo in the NBA. And it was mainly about Bronny’s comeback from his cardiac arrest. After an impressive high school run, James Jr. stormed his way into college basketball, signing up with the USC Trojans. The news was already out that the NBA world inched closer to witnessing its first-ever father-son duo on court.

Unfortunately, months before the NCAA season, Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest at the training facility. The rising star was immediately rushed to the medic and everything was brought under control. While he recovered, he had missed out on his preparations for the season. It reflected in his performance. He averaged 4.8 points, coming off the bench. He didn’t also have the crowd’s support in his favor. Wherever he went, they welcomed him with the chants of ‘Overrated’ and ‘Who’s your daddy?’, putting him on the spot. Nevertheless, when he signed up for the draft, he still faced criticism for entering despite a poor college record.
