The one-of-a-kind opening ceremony is about to begin! For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony won’t be held in a stadium with the contingents circling around the track. This time, the unique opening ceremony will have athletes from all over the world sail through Paris via the Seine in boats as well as cruises. Team USA, who will be led by LeBron James and Coco Gauff have gone through the final touches, getting ready for the ceremony.
The entire contingent is dressed in a navy blue blazer with a blue striped shirt underneath. However, the flag bearers will be rocking a white coat instead of a navy blue one. In a video posted by USA Basketball on X, LeBron James, looking like an absolute gentleman, hopped on a video call with a mystery person. Anthony Davis, who seemed to be on a video call as well, wanted to show off James’ fit. And why not? The “King” was indeed looking like one. The fact that James is the first male basketball player who will lead the Americans in the Olympics tops it off.

It will be a sight to see LeBron alongside Coco Gauff in just hours. The American contingent consists of over 591 athletes. This is one of the largest contingents out of all in Paris. It will be interesting to see the number of boats/cruises required for the Americans who will have King James and Coco Gauff leading the way with the Star-Spangled Banner. Interestingly, Coco Gauff is more excited to share this moment with the King and it isn’t her fault. She’s a young tennis player trying to make her name on the circuit. For her to have the opportunity to bear the national flag with one of the greatest athletes in history, this event will be the highlight of her career.
For LeBron, this will be the icing on top of his international career. But then again, that depends on whether he’ll return in ’28.
Is this LeBron James’ last Olympic appearance?
Looking at how versatile he’s been throughout the years, LeBron might as well come on board during the 2028 Summer Olympics in LA. Of course, that will depend on a lot of factors. He would only consider joining if his current veteran teammates on the Olympic team decide the same. As per Kevin Durant, LBJ still has a lot left in him, to the point where he might be active till 2028. And there is no doubt that fans would want to witness the King compete at 43.
