LeBron James praises Josh Allen—Does this solidify Allen's status as an elite QB in the NFL?

‘Overrated’- That’s the word many critics have used for LeBron James over the years while he has been busy climbing the ladder of success. So, he understood exactly how it felt when Bills’ star Josh Allen was bestowed with the title of ‘Most Overrated Quarterback’ that too by his fellow NFL peers. Sure enough, LBJ came to Allen’s rescue saying, “I GUARANTEE he’s at the top of the scouting report before playing Buffalo offensively! So, who cares?” And now, the hooper cannot stop singing praises of the quarterback.

As the Bills faced the Jaguars tonight and gained a commanding lead, LeBron James took to X to acknowledge Josh Allen’s talent, saying, “I really like watching Josh Allen play football!” Yes, the 7-year veteran got the stamp of approval from the Red Sox minority owner once again. And why wouldn’t he?

While ESPN surveyed 103 NFL players before deeming Josh Allen ‘most overrated’, people tend to forget that he is a 2-time Pro Bowl, a second-team All-Pro, and was even in the MVP conversation last year. Talking about team success, he has led the Bills to 5 straight playoff appearances and has been the reigning AFC East champion for 4 straight years. Now, the only accolade missing from his resume is a Super Bowl.

And while his opponents called him overrated, Josh Allen’s teammates have complete faith in him as Khalil Shakir remarked the star quarterback is “probably one of the best leaders I’ve ever been around just because of the fact that [if] Josh was like, ‘Hey, grab your shield and your sword and let’s go to war,’ I’m no questions. I’m gonna grab it and go.”

Josh Allen has been leading by example throughout his career, as last year he became the first player in league history with four straight 40+ touchdown seasons. The record tally doesn’t end there. He also shattered Kyler Murray’s record by bagging at least one rushing and one passing touchdown in eleven games. Sure enough, even Allen is not too bothered by the ‘overrated’ tag.

What did Josh Allen say about his ‘Most Overrated Quarterback’ tag?

Garnering praise from LeBron James and then proving it on the field with a dominant win over the Jaguars, Allen is constantly proving his critics wrong. He is not bothered by the noise and recently presented a different perspective, “So my reaction is I’m not mad that 11 players not on my team don’t like me, right? So that’s number one. I actually think that’s a term of endearment. When other players don’t like me that means I’m doing something the right way.”

But why did players deem him overrated? While he has had immense success in his career, one anonymous NFC West Player claimed Allen had “too many turnovers.” Sure enough, his 102 turnovers make him the league leader in that stat since the 2008 season.

And this might have been enough for players to rank him the “most overrated QB” over Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa who got ten votes each for the tag. He was also deemed the most trash-talking quarterback with 26 votes over Baker Mayfield and Aaron Rodgers!

Aaron Rodgers loves to talk trash to his opponents, and an anonymous NFC West player said he is “more of an intellectual trash talker” as he is great at playing mind games and reading people’s next moves.

While Josh Allen was not bothered by the tag, he did have a problem with one major discrepancy, “I am mad at, however, I’m never, ever invited to participate in these anonymous surveys. So, that’s where I find this frustrating. I want to be a part of these surveys, too, and give my input as well.” Moreover, he credited his seven-year experience and the tough journey from a small town in California to the biggest stage for giving him a thick skin and keeping him motivated despite the criticism.

“I’m just gonna keep playing football the way I know how to play it,” Josh Allen concluded.
