The elephant in the room (or the NBA) – Bronny James. That’s pretty much the situation right about now. Given the season the eldest James Jr. had in college, it was predicted that if he did get drafted, it would be in the second round. So, in all honesty, Bronny is still not done. However, there would have been at least a few who hoped that the 19-year-old would have been selected in Round 1.

Unfortunately, no such luck. But what’s interesting is that there has been nary a sound or peep from the James clan in the last 15-18 hours or so. The last post relating to LeBron James and his boys was a series of photos where the father of three seemed to be reflecting on his journey raising them.

“Not a feeling in the fkn world better than being around raising my boys to MEN! Pops over here getting emotional as hell just thinking about yall journey so far! Thank you both for allowing me to be your DAD and be apart of your compass through life’s trials and tribulations!” Bron wrote.

The heartfelt tribute was shared by both Bronny James and Bryce James in their stories. Savannah James, for her part, added a few holding back tears emoji, clearly overwhelmed at the touching message by her husband. However, that was it from the royal family of the NBA. Then again, what do we expect them to say? No matter the status and the wealth they own, LeBron James and Savannah, right now are two anxious parents. Just like the rest of the families of the draft prospects.

As for Bronny James’ wishes, let’s hear it from the man himself.

“I just want to hear my name called”: Bronny James did not beat around the bush in his admission for the draft night

Yup! The when or where doesn’t matter for the young guard. All he wants is an opportunity. In a recent appearance in Gil’s Arena, Bronny’s agent, Rich Paul, revealed what his priority was. “Rich Paul to Bronny: “What’s important to you?” Bronny: “I just want to hear my name called.”

The firstborn of LeBron had a tumultuous last year. As he was getting ready for his USC debut, Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest, shocking his family and the whole world. His father was so shaken that he was ready to hang up his boots then and there to dedicate the rest of his time to his family. However, nothing of the sort was needed as the brave 19-year-old came back more determined than ever.

Sadly, it didn’t translate much into his season. Bronny finished with modest numbers that were underwhelming for a lot of fans who expected to see the ‘Chosen One’ in James’ firstborn. We don’t have to remind you of the kind of hate and criticism that came the youngster’s way. But he had the best support system in his family. Also, carrying the James name and being the first child, Bronny has been in the spotlight ever since he was born. As such, he is very well acquainted with the nature of the basketball community.

Hence, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to assume that he is good at canceling the outside noise and focusing on what’s important. For now, that is hearing his name called on the draft night. Bronny, despite getting workout offers from multiple teams, only accepted those from the Lakers and Suns. Aside from these two, Paul shared that the Mavericks and Timberwolves have expressed their interest.

All of these teams have second-round picks for Round 2 of draft night which will tip-off at 4:00 PM ET. Minnesota has the earliest pick at No. 37. It’s followed by Los Angeles at No. 55, Phoenix at No. 56, and Dallas at No. 58, the last pick of the night.  Seeing as how the first round ended at around 11 PM, the James family will have to wait for 17 hours to learn Bronny’s fate.
