You’d be wrong if you thought the Los Angeles Lakers legend LeBron James‘ ambition would start to dim down after his 40,000 points milestone. James holds a lot of power, even though it does not come to the surface. Bron is now trying to pull the strings on who becomes the coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes basketball team. Ohio State is LeBron’s hometown school, so it does not come off as a surprise. It would make sense for him to have a connection with the university of that state and to be actively involved in the decisions regarding its basketball team. He is pushing for Dusty May, Florida Atlantic HC, to become the head coach for Ohio. For that, he is also offering to shell out millions in financial donations once the hiring is done.

College Football Focus’ Michael Wachsman reported the news of Bron trying to push for May to be hired on X (Twitter). The post highlights that if the university hires May, the NBA star would be allegedly prepared to extend his support to the Buckeyes “with a large monetary donation, in the millions.” Furthermore, it would also ensure the chances that Bryce would kick off his college career through the same team.

The rumor mill started to buzz back in October 2023, when Bryce made an unofficial visit to the Ohio State campus for a football game. According to social media posts, the young James could be at one point reportedly seen deep in conversation with the Ohio State basketball coach Chris Holtmann. If fans thought that the conversation involved something more than just discussing the weather, then Bryce confirmed it soon enough by taking to his own social media handle and confirming that he received an offer from the college.

There weren’t many major updates on that news in the next few months. Until now. Back in February, Chris Holtmann was fired from the position and the search for the next HC who would lead the Buckeyes started. The rumor gate is spreading like wildfire all across the internet, but May seems to negate them.

Dusty May denies the rumour of having LeBron James’ support

Once the alleged rumor was out there on the internet, it eventually reached the ears of Dusty May himself. During his weekly presser, the coach addressed the speculation that he was being considered as a coach for Ohio, stating that he did not know where it was coming from. Furthermore, he addressed the most recent rumor connecting him to LeBron James by reportedly stating that he would be flattered if the four-time NBA champion even knew his name. But he was glad he had James’ support.

May’s response was tweeted by FAU beat writer, Robbie Lastella, where it can be evidently seen that May is more interested in leading the Owls for another post-season run.

As a father, while James is doing his best to provide everything to support a good sporting environment for his younger son, Bryce, even if the Buckeyes don’t land May, Bron will ensure the Ohio state is in good hands.
