Did LeBron just disrespect Jayson Tatum by not mentioning him? What does this mean for Tatum's legacy?

“You win a championship, new contract, NBA 2K25 cover, Sports Illustrated… so after all of this, it’s definitely a humbling experience.” After experiencing all the highs during his title run with the Celtics, Jayson Tatum’s momentum took a massive hit when he got benched against Serbia in the Olympics opener. And the situation did not improve as the tournament went on. Meanwhile, Anthony Edwards’ stardom kept skyrocketing as fans were left in awe of his oozing confidence. Sure enough, even LeBron James felt Ant-Man’s infectious energy and could not stop singing his praises while Jayson Tatum faced an inadvertent snub yet again.

Addressing Edwards’ impact on the veteran superstar during their time together in Paris, LBJ said, “I thought that was the best thing about our team. You know we had the vets. We had myself and Steph and KD and AD, Jrue Holiday.” Paying homage to the experienced hoopers on the team, he continued, “Then, you know you had the younger guys. You had Tyrese Haliburton and, you know, Anthony Edwards, then Devin Bookers.” But one thing that grabbed the viewers’ attention was that there was no mention of Jayson Tatum by King James.

Well, JT did have a forgetful Olympics campaign as he was benched in two games and averaged only 5.3 points in limited minutes. And maybe his name just skipped LeBron’s mind while he praised the rest of the squad. But it should be noted that he even mentioned Haliburton, who also sat out three games in Paris and was even less productive than Tatum, with an average of 2.7 points. While inadvertently snubbing JT, James continued his praise for Ant-Man, “Just to see the excitement that Ant-Man played with showed off the floor. You know he wanted to compete against everybody.”

Moreover, Edwards’ energy sent LBJ on a nostalgic trip as he revealed on the GoJo and Golic podcast, “Just to see that energy, you know from a young guy and for us as the older guys, remembering at one point having all that energy, you know it’s definitely it was a blessing to be around Ant and the rest of those young guys.” Well, JT might not be too pleased with LeBron not mentioning him. However, this won’t be the first time King James has left the Celtics star disappointed!

When LeBron James made a young Jayson Tatum cry

Yes, during their preparation for the Olympics, Tatum made an honest confession to LBJ while they were practicing together. With a little nudge from the interviewer, JT said, “I ain’t never told him that story.” Well, it was back when JT was a kid and his mother took him to a game in Memphis where he had the desire to meet LeBron and get his autograph and likely a picture with the legend. However, Tatum revealed, “There was a lot of people back there. He was like ‘I’m out. I gotta go.’”

With his hopes shattered, a young Tatum got “in the car and started crying.” But that was years ago and the Celtics star claimed that he and James are cool now. When JT told the story in front of the Lakers star, James had a hilarious response, “That’s why you dunked on me though? That’s why you dunked on me in the Conference Finals?” Yes, James was talking about Tatum’s historic poster on him in Game 7 of the East Finals while JT was just a rookie. “It’s the get back.” Tatum replied.

While Tatum is much younger than James, they have a lot of on-court history together. And James was likely too focused on Anthony Edwards’ aura during his response on the podcast that praising JT just skipped his mind. Do you agree?
