The Lakers just pulled off the impossible. They got one of the best offensive engines in the league in his prime. The trade shocked everyone. No one saw it coming, not even the insiders. Not after Luka led the Dallas Mavericks to their second consecutive Western Conference Finals and their first NBA Finals appearance since 2011.

And now begin the theories. Why did they trade AD away? Well, according to Bill Reiter of CBS Sports there were rumors since a year ago that, “LeBron is frustrated with A.D and he doesn’t think that it’s working.” He further added that there rumors of this frustration have been growing since last year. However, now it became pertinent because “This trade does not happen without his [LeBron] absolute blessing and approval.”

Well, LeBron did not take this comment lightly. The 4x Champion tweeted in response to a clip of Reiter talking about Bron’s frustration with Davis. You a fkn lie!!!*clown emoji*” wrote LeBron.

Apparently, even the Lakers star plaer had no idea. People assume behind every Lakers’ decision LeBron has his influence, but even Bron was completely in the dark about the move, according to Dave McMenamin. After the Lakers’ win over the Knicks on Saturday, he found out about the trade.

LeBron was actually out for dinner with his family when he got the news according to sources from ESPN. It’s safe to say he was taken by surprise. He didn’t know the trade was even in the works and is still processing everything reports McMenamin. While the 4x MVP is still processing this, we’re excited to see Luka Magic and arguably the greatest player of all time taking to the court together.

The Lakers are betting big on Luka Doncic, seeing the 25-year-old as the future of the franchise for years to come. So, when can fans expect to see Doncic alongside LeBron and the rest of the squad?

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Doncic is ramping up his recovery from a calf injury and might be ready to return around the All-Star break (February 14-16). Before the injury, he was putting up some serious numbers—28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game. Remember, just last year, he led the Mavericks to the NBA Finals, though they were taken down by the Celtics in five games.

While the Lakers are sitting pretty at 28-19 and No. 5 in the West, the Mavs are struggling at No. 8 with a 26-23 record, fighting for a play-in spot. And while LeBron didn’t know about the trade beforehand, he’s been full of praise for Luka.

Likewise, back in 2018, Luka called LeBron “my idol,” which is pretty telling of the mutual respect between these two. Can you imagine the chemistry they’ll have when they finally hit the court together? It’s going to be a fun ride.
