August 23rd would have marked the 45th birthday of the Los Angeles Lakers legend. As a sign of gratitude, Nike hosted men’s and women’s two-day Mamba League Invitational tournaments in front of Staples Center in Los Angeles. The final games of both competitions took place on ‘Mamba Day‘, 24/08.

Bryce James, the youngest son of LeBron, participated in the tournament as a representative of the top eight men’s team in LA. A video of his endeavors recently went viral on Instagram where he scored a jelly layup in one play. Impressed with his son’s basketball skills, the 38-year-old shared the video from his story.

The father-son connected online over a historic night surrounding KB-24. The elite youth basketball tournament had top youngsters featuring in it. So, Bryce showcasing what he is made of, on such an iconic night, makes it even more unforgettable.

A true heir to the throne

Standing at 6’6, Bryce’s ability does not get talked about enough in today’s game. In the last few years, he has shown glimpses of what he is capable of. A style of play that resembles his father’s a lot, his growth has been exciting to watch.

It is evident from his plays that he understands the weight the back of his shirt carries. There is already an unspoken pressure on him to live up to the unrealistic standards of his four-time NBA champion father. The 16-year-old definitely understands that and still embraces the challenge.
