If LeBron James puts his accolades on the table today and retires, he’d still be arguably one of the best to ever grace the hardboard if not the best. The 39-year-old is fresh off of adding another jewel to his crown by winning his 3rd gold medal with Team USA and seems like LeBron is already looking into the future that does not involve the hoops.

LeBron James’ social media activity has spiked in the past days after returning from France with the NBA season still some way off. Hence, he made his presence felt on the net. With most of his posts revolved around his Team USA adventure, the latest one took a different route. This latest move is enough to gauge the attention of his 160 million followers as the word ‘retirement’ was at the center of it.

Monte Harrison has been marking waves on social media as the 29-year-old became a freshman for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Harrison made the switch after spending 2 years in the MLB and LeBron is ready to take some inspiration from him. In his latest IG story, Bron shared a post highlighting Monte’s career switch. To create the intrigue, the 4-time NBA Champion captioned it, “Me when I retire from the league! Haha!”

Harrison played football at Lee’s Summit West High School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. His 60 receptions for 1,007 receiving yards, 13 receiving touchdowns, 198 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns as a senior showcased his football acumen. But he put his passion aside for a shot at baseball, a game that he played as well in high school. After spending 5 years at the amateur level, Harrison got his break in the MLB with the Miami Marlins in 2020. His final MLB appearance came in 2022 for the Los Angeles Angels and now his move back to college has piqued the interest of LeBron James.

The Lakers’ icon has a highly admired high school career playing football as a WR. LeBron was the top prospect from Ohio but opted to play basketball instead. And thank God he did as the evergreen scoring machine is heading into his 22nd year in the league. But what does the future hold after his retirement? A return to football? While no one knows that for sure, there has been no shortage of his post-retirement career.

LeBron James hasn’t kept it secret that his time on the floor is coming to an end. While he is about to check off the goal of sharing the court with his son, he has kept his next move a mystery. His youngest son, Bryce, is yet to select his college after shining in the recruitment weekend in Indianapolis. To play with him as well, LeBron would at least have to keep on playing for 3 more seasons.

During the recent debate about the NBA vs NFL, LeBron’s name again came to the fore. According to former NFL star Jason Kelce, LeBron will not only be able to transition into football seamlessly, but he’d also be one of the top names in it. This came after LeBron expressed his desire to switch to football once he finishes on the court. His other potential venture in retirement could see him become an owner as well, with the NBA looking at a potential expansion. But since we’re talking about LeBron James, it is better to keep in mind that the king has always been two steps ahead with his planning that we’ll get to know in due time.
