Off the court, Giannis Antetokounmpo has always been Mr. Nice Guy. Cracking dad jokes during interviews, goofing around with fans, and having fun with teammates – he lightens the mood with his jovial personality. But when The Greek Freak is on the hardwood, he means business. It was evident during Friday’s Pistons clash, as Giannis shocked Cade Cunningham by showing a side of him that the All-Star guard had never seen.

It happened when Kyle Kuzma got called for a shooting foul during Cade’s drive to the basket. Disagreeing with the call, Giannis demanded an on-the-ground foul instead. As per a leaked audio of the incident, Cunningham responded as he headed to the charity stripes, “Hey, that’s clearly shooting man. God damn. Line it up man.” After making his first free throw, the Pistons star trolled Giannis by pointing at him. Giannis was not pleased.

“What? N—- what the f— are you talking about? What is he talking about man?” The forward allegedly responded. Sure enough, Cade was taken aback by Antetokounmpo trash-talking and cussing at him. Laughing uncontrollably while heading back to the free throw line, the point guard said, “Man, I didn’t know he talked like that.”

Yes, English is not his first language. But Giannis doesn’t shy away from trash-talking his opponents when needed. Earlier this season, another leaked audio caught him telling Chris Paul, “I’ll f— you up. You.” The incident occurred after CP intentionally fouled the Bucks star to stop him from scoring.

As both players were separated by teammates and officials, Giannis said, “I’m good.” Paul responded, “You can’t talk s— and be like, I’m good. F— that n—-!” As the forward headed to the free-throw line, he sent another message to CP, “Come see me after the game.” Giannis kept that same intensity against the Detroit team. Also, Cade was not the only Pistons star who became a victim of his verbal beatdown.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Giannis' trash-talking a sign of his competitive edge or just unsportsmanlike behavior?

Giannis Antetokounmpo trolls former Bucks teammate. Gets a tech right after!

Soon after the Cunningham incident, Giannis got into another altercation. This time with his former teammate, Malik Beasley. Well, Beasley was on fire all night, finishing with seven made three-pointers. And he was hitting the shimmy celebration after almost every shot. So, when Antetokounmpo got a block on Malik, he immediately trolled him by copying the shimmy. While Giannis was just having some fun, Beasley was not pleased and began pushing the Bucks star away.

Giannis continued mocking him, “I know you already.” Beasley responded, “Don’t do that. Don’t do that s—… F— out of here.” As the shoving and trash-talking continued, both players got penalized with a technical foul. Giannis even asked the official, “Why do I get a tech?” But it was likely because the refs did not want the situation to escalate.

After the game, Beasley even addressed the incident with a tweet, “Let someone stand over you, hit your ish, then try to help me up… In what world would you let that slide in? Idc how goofy he is lol.” Well, Malik’s frustration is justified because not only did Giannis mock him, but he also decimated the Pistons with his 32-point triple-double. Yes, the Bucks clinched the fifth seed as Giannis led them to their seventh straight win. And the trash-talk was just the icing on the cake. Thoughts?
