When Team USA bagged gold in the Paris Olympics, it not only proved that they are the best basketball team in the world, but it also showed that Stephen Curry and LeBron James work great as teammates. Soon began the speculations about the two superstars joining forces to have the same impact in the NBA. Unfortunately, Steph shattered every fan’s dream in a recent interview, claiming that he will “probably not” team up with LBJ. But a wholesome moment between the two legends on Christmas Day has left the Bay Area fans hopeful yet again.

Well, as Steph was warming up on the court ahead of the Christmas Day encounter against the Lakers, LeBron walked up to the hardwood and hilariously attempted blocking the Baby-Faced Assassin’s shot. Being the sharpshooter that he is, Curry made the basket anyway. The two superstars laughed and hugged each other like best buddies.

Sure enough, their heartwarming interaction led to Dub Nation urging them to team up with comments like “Let them play together. Is all I ask, last ride” and “Get Bron on the Warriors, these two have to play a full season together” began flooding in.

As it turns out, the fans’ wish was very close to coming true last season when the Warriors showed strong interest in pursuing LeBron, and trade discussions even reached a point where there were talks between Joe Lacob and Jeanie Buss. Moreover, Draymond Green was also reportedly pushing his team to acquire the four-time champ. So, what went wrong?

Well, it is believed that LBJ’s agent and long-time pal Rich Paul “adamantly opposed the idea” fearing the damage it would cause to his client’s image. As per veteran insider Marc Stein, “Sources say Paul implored both teams to scrap the concept… largely because he wanted to insulate James from potential backlash over switching teams for the fourth time in his career.” Whatever the reason, the deal never happened and it has left the fans craving for more.

What’s your perspective on:

Will Curry and LeBron ever join forces in the NBA, or is it just a fan fantasy?

Have an interesting take?

With both superstars past their prime, it is clear that they do not have a lot of years left in the league. And fans desperately want to see them play together once again before either of them decides to hang his boots. However, it is unlikely that Steph will leave the Warriors because he recently inked a $62.5 million deal to extend his stay until 2027. So, the only plausible way for the team-up to happen could be with LBJ joining the Warriors.

Surely, fans understand it as one netizen wrote, “These two should finish on the Warriors together #DubNation” while another said, “League should just let them play man we need it.” Well, the league has nothing to do with the decision. It depends on LeBron and Steph, and their respective franchises. As of now, James is tied to the Lakers for two more years because of his $101.3 million extension. However, if he wishes to join forces with Steph, he could demand a trade and make that happen.

Meanwhile, Dub Nation is ready to give up all of their key assets to see LeBron and Steph play together one more time, “Bro @warriors please. Make the trade. @Lakers we got Kuminga, Podz, Trayce, Wiggins, Moody, and some picks. What you want?” Yes, the Warriors are desperately looking for a star to pair alongside Steph, which was clear from their pursuit of Lauri Markkanen and Cam Johnson. And reports suggest that they are finally open to shopping away their young core to make that happen. Surely, that could intrigue Rob Pelinka for a potential LBJ trade if the Warriors offer a viable package that helps the Lakers build their future. So, the ball might be in LeBron and Steph’s court to decide if they want to fulfill Dub Nation’s wish by finally teaming up as they did in the Olympics.
