No one can stop LaMelo Ball now. The 22-year-old is on a roll, stacking impressive scores and helping the Charlotte Hornets finally win a game. Tonight’s meet-up against the Boston Celtics was the highlight of it all. In what can only be called a last-minute thriller, Boston lost after maintaining a decisive lead.
The Hornets were the first to dominate in the opening quarter but the Celtics quickly took the lead and stretched the gap to almost 10 points and increased it further into the second quarter. While they were able to keep the lead even after half-time, Charlotte snatched the win, just from their over-time excellence. Here are our takeaways from the game.
A Derrick White-less Boston is weak

Earlier before the game, it was announced that point guard Derrick White will not play due to personal reasons. This proved to be in Boston’s disfavor as he has been playing a crucial role in all of their previous wins. The team will be looking for possible solutions for this as it cannot continue on further into the season.
This is crucial because today’s loss did not come with any bad performances from other players. Jayson Tatum netted 45 points with 13 rebounds. While the others could have performed better, the team had just gotten familiar with Derrick’s presence on the court and had a hard time adjusting to his absence. With no set timeline on his return, fans will be hoping to see the Celtics get back to winning again.
Miles Bridges as starter works best for Hornets
After missing more than a year from playing, Miles Bridges is back and is already proving his talents on the hardwood. His nineteen points with four rebounds helped the Hornets to seal the deal tonight. In specific, his 3-pointer with 6.6 seconds left in overtime snapped the favors on Charlotte’s side. Despite this being just his second game, Bridges is giving fans what they need after their long wait. Him in the starting line-up is setting the tone for the team to dominate right from the first buzzer.

Out of the thirteen games they have played this season, the Hornets have won just four. Tonight’s victory is a much needed one after a four game losing streak. And they delivered, with a huge helping hand from Lamelo Ball. The point guard finished the game with 36 points, his second best this season. He also secured nine rebounds with eight assists, two steals and a block.
This is Ball’s best season with the Charlotte Hornets so far. He currently averages 24.4 points with 5.3 rebounds and 8.3 assist while shooting 43.2% from the field. If he continues with this spectacular performance, his selection into the All-Star teams is assured.
