Can LaMelo Ball's fourth-quarter dominance lead the Hornets to a playoff breakthrough this season?

The Charlotte Hornets registered their biggest win of the season so far against the Indiana Pacers on Friday. Despite trailing midway into the third quarter the Hornets turned the game around last season’s Conference Finalists, securing a 103-83 blowout. Brandon Miller and LaMelo Ball were standout performers as they scored 31 and 29 points respectively.

LaMelo came in clutch again in the fourth quarter as he is making a habit of dominating opponents in the later stages of the game. He has quietly led the league in fourth-quarter scoring in the 2024-25 season. Ball’s 11.1 points per game outpaces the likes of Cam Thomas, Jimmy Butler, and even Kevin Durant.

Ball is enjoying a great start to the season and most importantly a healthy start to the season, as he is currently averaging a career-high 28.4 points scoring 44.5% from the field. It promises to be the season where hopefully he can put his injury woes aside and finally play at his true potential. Furthermore, Lamelo Ball is not the only one in his family who has suffered injury issues recently. His older brother Lonzo also made his way back to the court after a two-year absence.
