The young Charlotte Hornets squad is starting to pick things up after a rough start. They won their first in-season tournament game on Friday night against the Washington Wizards. LaMelo Ball was the star for the Hornets in the game. He scored 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, and led his team to victory.

Charlotte Hornets head coach Steve Clifford, who is also a Manchester United fan, addressed their victory over the Wizards. After Man Utd?s heartbreaking 3-4 loss against Copenhagen on Thursday, Clifford was happy that his superstar LaMelo Ball got him a much-needed win tonight.

Steve Clifford was having a bad week after his favorite soccer club, Manchester United, lost to Copenhagen in the UEFA Champions League Group Stage match-up on Thursday. Man Utd suffered a heartbreaking 3-4 defeat after Copenhagen?s Lukas Lerager and Roony Bardghji scored two late goals in the match. Clifford was happy that LaMelo Ball avenged his heartbreak with his incredible performance tonight.

Charlotte Hornets have a long way to go

Even though the Charlotte Hornets got a win in their first in-season tournament game, they have a long way to go if they want to be successful. LaMelo Ball and co. struggled from the three-point line against the Wizards, and their shooting has been below par-throughout the season. They are struggling to find the rhythm during games. Steve Clifford also pointed out that their high pick-and-roll defense is a major problem that needs to be fixed as soon as possible.
