Quincy Olivari's tears for Curry—Is this the ultimate fan moment in NBA history?

Quincy Olivari breaks down during the post-game press conference. Most importantly, he certified himself as the biggest Stephen Curry fan in the NBA world. The LA Lakers reserve had the opportunity to spread his wings in the team’s final preseason game in Chase Center. The shooting guard put a game-high performance of 22 points in front of his idol, and rightfully garnered all the attention. Speaking at the post-game press conference, Olivari emotionally expressed the moment he linked up with Steph.

A reporter accidentally triggered an emotional nerve when he asked the Lakers guard to speak about the moment. That’s it, Olivari, who had a confident head throughout the press meet, suddenly had his voice shivering. He said, “It’s crazy. I liked him since I was in sixth grade. I don’t even know what to say man ’cause that’s my player ever,” with his eyes filled with tears.

He further added, “First thing he told was ‘I am a big fan of your game and truth to be told, I am a big of him. I had his jersey, he signed it twice. I used to sleep under that jersey and I want to be like him so bad. So just be able to meet him and be able to have some respect for me.”

Tonight, JJ Redick had an entirely new plan for the Lakers, as he rested the core team for the game. Instead, he started the game with the rotational players, who are fighting for a spot in the final 15. And Quincy Olivari couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity. Stephen Curry, who didn’t lace up for the game, sat on the courtside to witness the entire action. Olivari, who started the game as a shooting guard, clocked out with 22 points with 5-9 FG from the arc. Truly a Steph fan!

Steph Curry is one of the humblest baller one can witness in the NBA world. Wherever he plays, thousands of fans rush just to get a glimpse of him. And to top it all, he also patiently interacts with a few of them by giving them autographs and selfies. Like that, Curry has signed Quincy Olivari’s jersey twice.

Now that Olivari has entered the league, Stephen Curry amped up his reciprocation with a special gift. Quincy, in his press conference, revealed that Curry gave his autographed sneakers. Speaking of it, he said, “He gave me a pair of shoes and signed them like that meant the world to me, man. My dad knows, my mom knows. It just means a lot. I don’t know, it’s a lot,” and once again broke into tears.

Moreover, Olivari didn’t just put up a shooting exhibition tonight but also showed his class whenever he had an opportunity. In the preseason game against the Bucks, the guard scored 11 points in just 9 minutes. So, Redick may have a tough task before selecting his final 15 men for the roster. What do you think? Should Quincy Olivari deserve a spot on the roster? Let us know in the comments.
