After a disappointing post-season, the Los Angeles Lakers are determined to land the missing piece in their team. For now, the player that their front office has been hunting for is the Cavaliers forward Donovan Mitchell. But the Cavs SG performed a wonderful season for his team, averaging 29.6 points per game before his Game 4 injury against the Boston Celtics. Though his team got eliminated from the playoffs, he is one of the leading scorers in the NBA this postseason. With such intense offense, The Cavaliers are not in the mood to let Spidah off their reigns.

Even ESPN insider Brian Windhorst seems to think the same. While talking about the post-season scenarios with Tim Bontemps and Tim MacMahon from the same organization, he discussed the Cavs’ seriousness for Donovan Mitchell. Insinuating various references like recruiting a new team to present an extension to Spidah, he emphasized how the Cavaliers will do everything to keep Mitchell in their team. His fellow journalists further commented how Spidah’s team would have to tick all of the boxes to satisfy their guard.

Elaborating on his point, Windhorst cleared how the Cavs front office has made the right move to replace coach JB Bickerstaff. However, the move to hire a new coach should be in likeliness to Mitchell. “If you don’t have a replacement that you feel good about or that you feel that Donovan feels good about, then you got to be careful making that change, ” Windhorst highlighted the importance of making calculated moves further onwards for the Cavaliers.

How the Lakers can acquire Donovan Mitchell?

The uncertainty that is hovering over Donovan Mitchell’s long term extension with Cavaliers has given a golden chance to the Lakers. If they want to get Spidah on their team, they’ll have to sign and trade their elite veteran players. The golden and purple jersey players that fall in this category are D’Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves, Gabe Vincent, and Jalen Hood-Schifino. All of these Lakers players fulfill the need for experience, young guns, and capital savings in the Cavaliers.

On the other side, the Lakers would be having a win-win situation. Spidah’s presence on the court with the Lakers will improve their perimeter scoring. Moreover, it will also reduce the burden on the shoulders of LeBron and injury-prone Anthony. The Championship drought that the Lakers team is experiencing might end with Spidah’s entry in the purple and gold jerseys.

The sooner Mitchell joins the James team, the earlier there will be chances of prime performance from LeBron and Davis. Both of the latter players will soon be going to surpass their prime, and there will be no coming back from that scenario. With such conditions in sight, will Donovan Mitchell accept the eagerness from the Lakers front office?
