Anthony Davis had a smile on his face the moment reporters mentioned LeBron and Bronny James. Despite the overwhelming criticism surrounding the youngster’s entry into the Lakers, the father-son duo’s history in the making seems to have mellowed many out. And of course, the wholesome training clips and post-practice interviews with them help the community to get an inside perspective. But this time, it was AD who had quite the tidbit for us hungry fans.
Talking to the media after Day 2 of training camp, Anthony Davis was quite the chatterbox. And when ESPN’s Dave McMenamin asked what he made of the “Bron and Bronny thing,” the 31-year-old replied, “It’s fantastic to be able to be here and witness it in practice!” But that wasn’t all. There was a hilarious incident, too, and someone got bullied.
“Bronny hit a 3 over him today. Everybody was talking smack in Bronny’s favor. Then Bron came down and just bullied somebody. Just took it out on [the defender] — I forgot who it was — and got a layup.” That’s the King, everyone! However, it wasn’t just a family affair. As LeBron made it clear earlier, they were just teammates on the court. As such, the competitive spirit reigned supreme.

“Bronny came down and hit another 3, I think over Austin [Reaves]. And Bron wanted the ball. So you could see, even though they weren’t matched up, the competition is there. And that’s what we love to see… I’m just honored to be here,” Anthony Davis added.
This comes in the wake of the recent interview where Bronny revealed that he caught his father “stepping out of bounds” while watching the clip of the session. 19 years with the ‘Akron Hammer,’ and he should have known that LeBron wasn’t going down without a fight! “What do you mean ‘I’m not gonna go there now’? You just went there. I stepped out of bounds? They don’t even have that camera angle up the baseline like that!” Bron said incredulously.

Needless to say, the banter lit the whole set with laughter, including the two men in question. Aside from the novelty of the father-son duo on the same court, the Lakers had another addition this time.

Is Coach Redick's tough training the key to Bronny James' success, or is it too much?

Anthony Davis’ wholesome reveal complemented by buzz around live DJ!
There is no doubt you would have noticed an actual DJ at the Lakers’ training camp by now. DJ Meel, after all, is hard to miss. And who do you think was behind the concept? JJ Redick has the answer to that. “It came from LeBron. He requested that there be a DJ before and after practice. I said to him, [that] for the group, I liked the vibe,” Redick said after practice.
The Lakers coach also said that he wasn’t sure if it was going to be a regular thing or just temporary. As an afterthought (an important one), JJ added, “We also have to figure out who foots the bill,” as everyone laughed.
Well, we know where the DJ idea came from. But where do you suppose LeBron might have got it from? The best guess would be none other than Coach Prime. The man did hire a designated DJ for his Colorado Buffaloes locker room. Since then, DJ Fa’Dorah has been a staple at every Buffs game, effectively opening a world of opportunities for DJs all over the world.
As for DJ Meel, he is a Cleveland product – born and brought up there, until he relocated to LA in 2018 for better opportunities. In hindsight, had it not been for former Ravens QB, Troy Smith, Jameel (official name) would have never become DJ Meel. “Even though I have always had a passion for music, I didn’t see this as the route,” he said in a 2020 interview with Voyage LA.
“It took Heisman winner and NFL Quarterback Troy Smith to hit me up one day and say “Meel you wanna get into DJing?” He then took me to Best Buy, bought me a MacBook and my guy Rodney gave me some turntables and a mixer. I’ve just been consistently at it ever since.”

And now, he is helping the Purple and Gold, looking for redemption and keeping up their energy with his music. Hopefully, DJ Meel becomes a fixture in the Lakers, part of their identity, and perhaps a revival of the Lakeshow. What do you say?
