The Los Angeles Lakers fired Darvin Ham from the staff last Friday in the hope of rebuilding everything from the start to claiming the Championship. Since the 17x Championship-winning team is looking for a new man to take the role, they will consult their star player, LeBron James. The 4x NBA MVP was expected to team up with Tyronn Lue, but that went down the drain. However, hopes are not high for James’ role in the team, as the Lakers superstar revealed in his post-match presser after his last game. In the absence of LeBron, the most prominent prospect for the Lakers is Anthony Davis, who has been a key player for the whole season.

Even Lakers insider Dave McMenamin agrees with AD’s significance for the team and how his likes and dislikes will matter more in decision-making for the Lakers. As the Summer kicks in, the Lakers will find a coach before LeBron decides to opt in or quit. However, LeBron is not the only one who will be the go-to person for the Lakers. According to the Lakers insider, McMenamin, “They[Lakers] have another voice, another leader, Anthony Davis, whose opinion they will take in consideration.” AD’s opinion will be important because if LeBron chooses to stay away from the team somehow, then Davis will have to take charge.

Coming to coaching head preference, earlier, it was expected to be LeBron’s buddy from the past, as well as Clippers coach Tyronn Lue. However, reports coming after the firing of Darvin Ham indicate that the front office is looking for an experienced candidate who has seen it all. No matter how many boxes the Lakers want to check, the time is running out, and they have to do it before summer ends since Tyronn Lue is out of the equation.

Tyronn Lue Shuts Down Speculations of Joining the Lakers

Tyronn Lue has earned the respect of the NBA community, though his team got out of the first round of the playoff after playing Game 6 against the Dallas Mavericks. However, when he learned about the fuss about his joining the Lakers, he shunned them. He was happy to be wanted, but it seems that the Clippers coach does not want to shift to Los Angeles. “I want to be here. Hopefully, we’re able to solidify that.” Lue said when he asked about the conjectures moving around of him joining the purple and gold jerseys.

The 47-year-old veteran is happy with his relationship with the Clippers front office, as he revealed in his recent interaction with AP. Moreover, he seems to be content with his position right now, as he mentioned that he doesn’t want to bounce around. That’s not the motive for which he joined the Clippers staff. However, Lue seems to have the right approach here as he took the team to the Western Conference Finals during his first season. There are even insider rumors that the Clippers are looking to give him an extension.

Considering Tyronn Lue’s dedication and loyalty to the Clippers, it is best to assume that the Lakers have only got limited options for their team. A fresh start is all they need to restore their legacy. However, it will be interesting to watch who will be the worthy one for the role. Who do you think can give such a push to the LA team?
