As much as the sudden trade shook Luka Doncic, it also had a major impact on his family. Especially his father, Sasa. Feeling betrayed by Nico Harrison’s shocking decision, Sasa publicly criticized the Mavs management earlier this month, “With this trade, their hypocrisy hurts me personally. I think Luka absolutely didn’t deserve this. I know he sacrificed a lot… I feel it’s really unfair from Dallas.” However, it seems like Daddy Doncic has come a long way in his healing process since then, as he looked ecstatic during tonight’s Lakers vs Timberwolves game after Luka’s highlight play to seal the game for his team.

Late in the fourth quarter, the Wolves were threatening a comeback and were only four points behind the LA team. That’s when Luka took matters into his own hands and shot an insane step-back three with defender Nickeil Alexander-Walker all over him. Crypto.com Arena erupted as the ball went through the net and the camera immediately panned to Sasa who was sitting in the crowd with his arms up in celebration.

Surprisingly, even he looked in utter disbelief after his son’s unbelievable shot, covering his face and shaking his head. More so because this was Luka’s first and only made three of the night as he had missed his previous eight deep-range attempts. Realizing that makes his falling away shot even crazier.

Moreover, it looks like Sasa has moved past the initial shock of Luka getting traded and is now enjoying his new journey in LA. He even admitted it in a recent interview, “Regarding the trade, I have to say: at least, what Luka and I talk about, it feels like it happened a year ago. We have already forgotten about it, the bitterness of that moment. It was a shock, but at the end of the day, it’s a legitimate right of every team to trade its players if they are not satisfied with them. OK, what happened — happened. Life goes on.” His reaction during tonight’s Lakers broadcast just proved his point. Of course, even the hoop community couldn’t stop talking about the wild moment.

Nico Harrison under fire once again after Insane Luka Doncic shot

Just like Sasa, the rest of Laker Nation was also stunned after Luka made that tough shot. Soon after, comments like “What a shot! Just like magic!” and “Luka makes it look easy” began flooding in. And once again, fans were left wondering how Nico Harrison could let go of a superstar like him, “Imagine trading this guy away.” Well, the Mavs GM has been under constant fire from Dallas fans since the trade, with people threatening his life and protesting against him.

Meanwhile, one netizen even took a shot at the recent reports that the Mavs traded Luka because they were concerned about his habit of drinking beer and smoking hookah. “Hookah beer it don’t matter Luka magic” the fan wrote, marvelling at Doncic’s shot. As per a report by Sam Amick, “Make no mistake, the people who witnessed Doncic’s last days in Dallas do not paint a flattering portrait of the 25-year-old’s professionalism. They call him lazy. They talk about the weight issues that were such a frequent frustration within their walls… They predict his basketball demise, highlighting a health history that, as some see it, will likely lead to catastrophe in the next five years or so.” However, those concerns might not matter if Luka plays at a high level.

While most fans were left in awe of Doncic’s highlight play, one netizen focused on the bigger picture, “He was 6-20 let’s not build a statue just yet.” Yes, Doncic struggled to find his rhythm once again as he missed majority of his shots. Although he has played okay since the trade, the world is yet to see the All-NBA calibre Luka from the Dallas days. Hopefully, he will find his groove soon and clear all doubts. But for now, he can enjoy tonight’s win against the Wolves.
