In the last few weeks, USA Basketball has focused on one thing, The Avengers. Naturally, the event in Paris became a global sensation as LeBron James & Co. put up a great show to seek redemption. Simultaneously, not many knew that Team USA had an embarrassing outing in the 3×3 format. The team failed to even make it to the first round of the knockouts. Amid this humiliating situation, Paul George pulled out a trick to team up King James and Kyrie Irving in the critically talked-about format, to solve the dilemma.
Rapper Ice Cube attempted to get some attention on 3v3 after he challenged the Olympic gold medalist (Netherlands) to face the All-Stars of the Big3 Basketball League. Nevertheless, The Avengers took charge in a few days and grabbed all the attention of the hoops universe. Moreover, Ice Cube also stressed that players from the Big3 league should represent the country’s team in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, considering the recent embarrassment. However, PG has bigger ideas.
Trae Young and Sixer’s pod panel discussed the inclusion of NBA players in the 3×3 format. Paul George sprung out of the chair and mentioned that Kyrie should play for “sure”. Ice Trae, on the other end, said, “Put PG, put any of y’all like, put any of the Wings. Bron. Put KD.” However, George immediately backtracked and said, “I don’t think you’ll see like an actual All-Star guy playing a three on three.”

Nevertheless, the Philadelphia 76ers‘ latest hero himself came forward with a solution and plotted a Kyrie Irving and LeBron James reunion. PG added, “Could someone put their pride aside to represent the country in that way? That’s the question.” He further added on Podcast P with Paul George, “I think now there might be a reason to. Now that we lost, so now it’s a hero story… I’ll do it. 28 definitely I get a gold medal.”
Right after that, one of the hosts sprung out, screaming “LeBron James!”, teasing a Bron, Kai & PG team up. Even though George didn’t think in the beginning that Bron would “do that,” the host countered, “He will try to do something just because he is LeBron… You just said, it’s a story now, ‘Oh! let me go be the first to go do it,” further solidifying the chances.
Interestingly, even Draymond Green took to his podcast to question why players like Naz Reid, Jalen Green, and Jalen Duren weren’t on Team USA’s 3×3 roster. He even went to the extent of including Tyrese Maxey’s name. However, Brian Windhorst then soon made a valid point that the selection process was far more complicated than one thinks.
Most 3×3 qualifying tournaments happen during the NBA season, so for these young players to be part of this team, they’d have to make a huge commitment, going against popular beliefs. That being said, what’s Ice Cube been planning with the alternate format?

The star rapper was critical of Team USA’s 3×3 side throughout the Paris Olympics. But he made everyone turn to his side when he challenged the gold medal winner for a $250,000 bet. Notably, Ice Cube scheduled the game ahead of the Big3 Championship game, on August 18 in Boston. During the latest playoff game, he announced that the Netherlands 3×3 team has accepted the challenge! But, he also stated that the challenge would happen at a later date.
Ice Cube added, “FIBA is scared of the Big3, so FIBA’s preventing them from playing in our All-Star Game. Don’t look like it’s gonna happen because of that. It sucks when politicians get in the way of sports and fandom.” Now that Paul George has volunteered to represent the country as he drags James and Uncle Drew, the 55-year-old rapper has a new threat! Nevertheless, Ice Cube can tackle this threat in only one way. He could challenge PG & Co. to face the Big3 All-Star and settle the debate ahead of the 2028 LA Olympics.
