Last night, the LA witnessed a glimpse of the Lakers‘ potential future. The next Kobe Bryant of the franchise? The LakeShow always manages to find a generational talent to carry its legacy. This time around, the team managed to find one with LeBron James still on the roster. Yes, we are talking about the 25-year-old generational talent, Luka Doncic. Following his impressive debut, fans have a lot to take note of, as the team shifts into high gear.
After 50-0dd days, the Slovenian stepped on the basketball court for the first time, donning the Purple & Gold jersey. Even though it wasn’t his greatest outing, fans enjoyed every bit of it. Former Lakers star James Worthy even turned into one of the fans, as he described the atmosphere that LukaMagic managed to create. In fact, he went a step ahead and compared it to the atmosphere that Kobe Bryant created.
Speaking at the post-game analysis of Spectrum SportsNet, Worthy said, “People had their 77s, and once you got in there. It was just a very strong feeling of anticipation of him even coming on the floor… He came out. It was just this big Roar.” Moreover, he didn’t just stop at that. 3x NBA Champ went on to talk about the potential future that Luka Doncic can create in LA. Worthy added, “It’s just not a trade where we’re going to have a player for two-three years. This is possibly 10-12 years.” Of course, it’s promising to hear, knowing that Luka is yet to hit prime.

Anthony Davis’ exit didn’t seem to bother the team and on top of it, the team roped in an MVP-caliber Luka and paired him up with LeBron James. It’s the perfect recipe for a championship ring. Is Bron helping Luka get his first ring? Or is Luka helping Bron get his 5th? Well, we are getting into that debate. All we know is that the Lakers look extremely threatening.
And Luka Doncic didn’t shy away from saying on it camera too. While he had watched the team as an outsider, tonight, he experienced how a team under Bron’s leadership works, especially with the new plays drawn up by JJ Redick. Following tonight’s emphatic 132-113 win over the Jazz, the 25-year-old said what he thought about the team, “Very dangerous. I think the ball movement was very well on the offensive end. Then we locked down a lot of players. so, I was happy to be on the total game.”
