Over the last two days, Karl-Anthony Towns was under the pump. The Minnesota Timberwolves made a startling claim of shooting 1500 shots every day when questioned about his poor shooting record. Following that, the TNT Inside Guys crew went after him, called him out for “Capping” and trolled him mercilessly. Moreover, it spread across the NBA world, as the Towns were taken for a ride in the hoops town. Nevertheless, the Dallas Mavericks backcourt stars Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic put an end to it.
During the post-game press conference, the duo spoke about the impact that Towns brought into Game 4. Doncic further stressed it by saying, “I think he hit two big threes for them when we were up one. That was really clutch. We got to do a better job on him.”

On the other hand, Kyrie Irving directly took it out on the TNT’s Inside Guys crew for the trolls against him. He said, “Despite the unfair criticism that he’s received, he’s a great player. I respect him. I know my teammates respect him… That’s what great players do. They figure it out.”
It all began when Karl-Anthony Towns confidently evaded a reporter who questioned his shooting skills, saying, “I’m putting up to 1500 shots a day… shot so well all playoffs, confidence extremely high.” Notably, he did have a poor night shooting the ball in Game 3, with 5-18 FG and 0-8 from the field.
Following Towns’ statement, the Inside Guys crew went all over him and claimed that he lied on camera. Shaquille O’Neal, on the other end, went up a little further and took a brutal dig at him, saying, “The fact that he (Towns) is not upset that he played terrible, showed me that he’s not ready yet.” After the Inside Guys, plenty of other analysts also joined the bandwagon to troll the big man. Especially, former star Kendrick Perkins said, “Motherf****er is scared,” making up his own analogy.
Karl-Anthony Towns shuts down his critics
The Wolves’ big man had only two options. He had to deliver in the do-or-die game to shut down the critics or enter the off-season, avoiding the trolls. The star forward chose the first option and produced the much-needed win for the Wolves and forced Game 5. He dropped 25 points with an impressive 9-13 FG.
Importantly, he recorded 4-5 FG from the three-point line, shutting down the critics for good. Moreover, three of those 3-pointers came in during the fourth quarter which helped the Wolves take the final lead in the game, and eventually win the game (100-105).
Additionally, Towns also opened up during the press conference after the win. He said, “Ain’t no time to have any doubts in your mind… I’m going to go out there be aggressive uh shoot my shot like I’ve been doing all series,” when the reporter asked him if he had any doubts in his mind in the fourth quarter.
