Known for giving their blunt and raw reactions to the NBA athletes’ latest performances, the Gil’s Arena crew has dropped another classic bombshell. The crew onboard came together to celebrate Team USA’s legendary Gold Medal and to recap the events that led to the historic finale against the home favorites, France. Amidst the cheers for Steph Curry and speculations on LeBron and Durant’s comeback for the LA Olympics, a sassy comment drifted the conversation towards something new and unexpected altogether.
The Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving was at the centerpiece of attention but it was not your usual heaping of praise. Popularly known as the Little Mountain, Irving is said to be the best ball handler of his time. The eight-time All-Star and three-time member of the All-NBA Team was born to an African American mother in Melbourne and got into basketball when he was at Boston University. The reference to Irving at Gil’s Arena podcast was topped off with a cheesy comment that was enough to catch anyone off guard, let alone Irving himself. The Ex-Warriors star Kenyon Martin called Kyrie “a snail,” making for an interesting cameo with some heads shaking in disagreement.
While others in the room tried to cut him off to make their point, Martin was determined to carry his comment to the ground.

Who’s the best and better at ball handling than the rest – it’s the classic IRVING vs IVERSON debate!
The Irving Vs Iverson debate that had caught the internet by storm is back on the charts again, it seems. At least for now, it’s safe to assume that it hasn’t lost steam and continues to send sparks flying off now and then. Halfway through the podcast, the Ex-Warriors star Kenyon Martin and Brandon Jennings got into a casual fling of argument. “Y’all had AI had it really bad though cause the team AI had, knew its way,” Martin said.
To which Josiah Johnson intervened saying, “But that just lets you know how fast and quick he was.” Martin was not backing down. “No that just tells me how bad you got him,” came the retort. “No we had him fast and quick,” JJ shot back. “Six foot in the team and you all couldn’t get him out of there. That’s all bad,” it was here that Brandon Jennings chimed in.
But, Martin explained his point further and concluded, saying, “You know when people talk about Kyrie’s on guard…Kyrie is a snail as compared to AI, a snail…come on! Like, think about how many combo moves Kyrie has to make to get past somebody. One move that’s all he’s got to do! Wanna tell me what’s the problem with the guards? Every time it’s a 6 foot 10 or a 6 foot 9…He’s literally trying hard guard running full speed that’s what you gotta do.”

Did this remark just put to rest the long-standing debate on who the better player is amongst Kyrie and Allen Iverson or did it just end up fueling it further? We ask because Allen Iverson had one of the most iconic handles in NBA history, with a terrific crossover dribble that even challenged the GOAT, Michael Jordan. But what added to the intrigue was when The Answer himself appeared on The Big Podcast with Shaquille O’Neal and Adam Lefkoe and admitted openly that Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving has the best handle “ever“.
“Kyrie will have you beat and then bring it back,” Iverson noted. “And play with it. Like he toys with people. He can still just go, but if he feels like playing with you…” This led a lot of sports analysts to get to a thorough Iverson vs Irving head-to-head stats comparison with a lot of battles being waged by the fans from both sides on Reddit, Quora, and even TikTok.
