The NBA is a star-driven league, but strong friendships within are just special. This makes the camaraderie between Kyrie Irving and Luka Donic one to remember in Dallas. Kai, known for his dazzling play and history of bouncing between teams, has already suited up for four franchises. However, while he indirectly hints at staying with the Mavs, this newfound loyalty suggests they might finally be the perfect fit! A recent interview offered a glimpse, as Irving discussed his experiences with the Cs and his bright future now, emphasizing the positive influence of his partnership with Luka.
Meanwhile, Doncic and Irving will now enter their 3rd year together soon. Despite missing the 2023 playoffs, they closed out last year on a high note, forging a potent connection. This rapid development has catapulted them, as the NBA’s most formidable duo.

Kai was traded from the Brooklyn Nets in the 2022-2023 season. And his impact has only grown. Now a key part of the organization, he’s a major reason they reached the NBA Finals and played in 17 playoff games! Alongside Malika Andrews, the host of NBA Today, Irving revealed his plans. Before that, when the host asked Kyrie Irving about the ups and downs he faced in Boston and how those experiences impacted his development, he said, “I wouldn’t be here without Boston, literally and figuratively, just because without what I went through here, I wouldn’t be who I am today… I’m grateful to have a story here”.
“Without going through what I went through here, I wouldn’t be who I am today.” Wasting no time, the host, Andrews, then inquired about the possibility of a long-term stint with the Mavs. Meanwhile, in response, Kyrie cleverly acknowledged that his future wasn’t set in stone. But he highlighted the importance of his bond with J-Kidd, Nico, and Luka. “I think I don’t mind being complimentary if we’re going to continue to put this band together. We have some great pieces around us.”

“If we’re going to continue to put this band together and we have some great pieces around us, I’m enjoying my time here,” Irving concluded. This statement reflects his strong relationship with his current teammates in Dallas. However, it doesn’t necessarily negate his past connection with LeBron James, who recently reminisced about other times together on the Boston Celtics.
LeBron James came out of nowhere and appreciated Irving
As Kyrie Irving achieves new heights, his ex-teammate and rival, LeBron James, admitted he still wishes they were playing together. Bron even went a step further, calling Kai the most gifted player. He also expressed his admiration for Irving’s growth since their time together. It’s worth noting that this duo was made in Cleveland. On Mind the Game, LeBron spoke with JJ Redick and expressed, “There was nothing on the basketball floor that Kyrie couldn’t do, and sitting here watching it, I’m so f*****g happy and so proud.
“And to watch his growth, and at the same time, I’m so f*****g mad that I’m not his running mate anymore,” he concluded. Adding to the intrigue, this is the first time Irving has reached the NBA finals since 2017 when he and LeBron James last played together for the Cavs. They lost to the Golden State Warriors that year. James and Irving played together in Cleveland for their seasons, from 2011 to 2017, reaching the Finals all three times. The duo was undeniably lethal.
