Should athletes like Kyle Kuzma stick to sports and avoid political commentary?

“Either you’re with us or against us,” you’ve probably heard mantra this multiple times. This is a common theme amongst the sports fraternity. The same can even be said about politics. With the Presidential election approaching, the social media nerds are in full force to back their ideal candidates and god forbid anyone tells them otherwise, as Kyle Kuzma found that out the hard way.

Kuzma might be 6000+ miles away from US soil, but his voice stayed back in the country, at least from a social media POV. The Wizards star kept a close look at the election scene and reacted to RFK’s speech. He didn’t keep his cards close to his chest and in turn, he was branded a “MAGA” (Make America Great Again) supporter after voicing against the Democrats.

RFK had some choice words last night for the Democrats. In his speech he branded Kamala Harris’ side “the party of war censorship, corruption, big Pharma, big tech and big money.” Agreeing to it, Kuzma made his opinion known on X and wrote, “Damn. Interesting to hear this from someone with a lifelong perspective & family heritage!” And that’s where things went south. An X user called out the former Lakers forward and wrote, “Kyle Kuzma’s soft MAGA rollout is certainly something.”

Kyle Kuzma even replied to it and commented, “Wtf lol”. But that wasn’t the end of it. Another fan wrote, “Rich ppl looking out for rich folks, shi not rocket science.” A clear nod to the theme of the capitalist society. He’s not the only one with deep pockets to support Donald Trump. The Hollywood Reporter, Stephen Baldwin, Hulk Hogan, Lil Wayne, Kid Rock, Amber Rose and many others are firm backers of the Republicans. Many of the USA’s best athletes have also been involved in the turmoil of choosing their sides and Kyle Kuzma is certainly one of them.

“Damn. I read his tweets. It def seems like a soft maga rollout. Disappointed in Kuz,” added another fan. Kuzma agreeing to RFK’s criticism of the Democrats was seemingly a nod to the MAGA followers, according to this fan. The ruling party has been thrashed for its policies for its current stint, which has caused major issues for the average American. Crime rates are also a concern in most of the major cities, with cases of people deleting people widespread and unchecked.

“He can believe whatever he wants but if he’s gonna be cryptic and vague then it’s fair to criticize. Say it with your chest!”, a user wrote. Kuzma has posted multiple cryptic political messages lately via his socials. He questioned about Joe Biden dropping out of the candidacy, and coyly criticized the policies of the government. Kuzma even targeted a post from Biden that blamed Trump’s reign for the struggles of middle-class citizens.

“Still waiting for him to clarify his meaning, but not gonna hold my breath lol,” this fan aimed for Kuzma’s pocket. He shared a screenshot of a thread where he accused Kuzma of being in the Repulicans’ tax bracket. The NBA star vehemently discarded the theory but was questioned about him remaining silent during RNC’s reign.

The whole thread showed how the build-up to November will be along the same line on social media. So when someone says not to mix sports and politics, you better think twice about it, taking inspiration from Kuzma’s scenario.
