The Curry Family has been blessed with great basketball genes running in their family. Sons of Charlotte Hornets legend Dell Curry, both Stephen Curry and Seth Curry are elite NBA players. Steph, being the Greatest Shooter of all time, is slightly better than his younger brother Seth. The two brothers have been competitive throughout their lives, and their competitiveness peaked when they became the first set of brothers to play against each other in a Conference Final in 2019. Even though it was a historic moment in the NBA, Steph and Seth’s parents were having a tough time choosing sides in the matchup.
Having gone through a roller coaster of emotions during this historic moment, Steph’s mother, Sonya Curry, gave Chef Curry’s NFL frenemy’s mother her flowers for handling the same situation with a unique approach.

Just like Steph and Seth in 2019, the NFL’s legendary sibling duo of Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce made history this year by becoming the first set of brothers to face each other at the Super Bowl. Stephen Curry’s golf rival Travis beat his older brother Jason to become a 2-time Super Bowl Champion. Steph and Seth’s mother, Sonya Curry, acknowledged how the NFL brothers’ mother, Donna Kelce, handled the two siblings competing on the grandest stage during the “Got it from My Momma” podcast with Jennifer Vickery Smith.
“Kudos to her. I think she handled that wonderfully.” Sonya said as Donna Kelce shared an emotional moment with her two NFL sons after the Super Bowl match. Supporting both her sons, Donna wore a jacket that was half Chiefs colors and half Eagles colors. Both Travis and Jason hugging their mother after the game, despite one winning the Super Bowl and the other one losing, showed how strong their relationship was. “That brought me to tears too.” Added Sonya talking about the heartwarming moment.

Sonya Curry can relate to Donna Kelce because she faced the same situation four years ago when her two sons competed against each other in the Western Conference Finals. The Golden State Warriors, led by Stephen Curry, faced Seth Curry’s Portland Trail Blazers in the matchup. But their parents were confused about which son to support, “How are we gonna do this?” said Sonya, wondering about the situation.
Dell Curry and Sonya Curry eventually decided to wear a half-and-half jersey, dawning colors from the teams of both Steph and Seth. Sonya also dealt with the issue of where to sit during the games because sitting with one daughter-in-law would upset the other. “This was a little traumatic for me.” Remarked Steph’s mother. Eventually, the 4-time Champion got the better of his younger brother as the Warriors beat the Blazers 4-0 in the series.

Even though Steph and Seth’s mother was a little traumatized by the experience, it seems like a good problem to have in your life. With both brothers being skilled enough to play in the NBA, their parents, Dell and Sonya, must be proud of their sons. They would be glad they were part of the historic moment when Stephen Curry took on his brother, Seth Curry, in the playoffs.
