After witnessing the Celtics in action in the preseason opener, there are no questions about the fit of the new additions. Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday made their presence felt with their dazzling performance, scoring 17 and 6 points, respectively. The Latvian forward started the game on a high note, shooting a 3-pointer from the downtown. He maintained the momentum throughout the game, tallying 17 points, five rebounds, one assist, and a block in 25 minutes.
While Jrue Holiday’s unofficial debut was not as emphatic as Porzingis, he matched six points on 2-of-10 shooting. He did, however, flaunt his All-Defensive ability, recording five rebounds and three steals.
The acquisition of two All-Star-caliber players has made the team even stronger now that they can support their franchise cornerstone, Jayson Tatum. Although Tatum did not have a great start as he just shot 3-of-13 from the floor, he still had an impact on the game. Porzingis revealed Tatum can draw defensive attention to himself. It helps minimize the pressure from opponents. This, in turn, gives him more open space to shoot his ball.
Kristaps Porzingis: “Jayson draws so much attention, it just opens things up for me. It’s a perfect scenario for me.”

While Porzingis made his presence felt in the first quarter, the spotlight quickly shifted to the 6’1″ guard. The 2020 first-round pick grabbed everyone’s attention with his stupendous performance in the tilt against the Sixers.
Payton Pritchard stole the limelight on the Sunday showing
Another star of the match was the 25YO point guard Payton Pritchard. He notched a game-high 26 points on 9-of-14 shooting after agreeing to a 4-year, $30 million extension just hours before the game. After Sunday’s showing, the Celtics look geared up to win it all this season. Kristaps Porzingis offered a few words about his debut game against the Sixers. He told Celtics Blog?s Jack Simone how “insane” it was to play alongside Payton Pritchard, who entered the game with all guns blazing.
