Kevin Durant was just one inch away from stopping Giannis Antetokounmpo from winning his first NBA Championship in 2021. With under 3 seconds left in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semis and the Brooklyn Nets trailing the Milwaukee Bucks by 2 points, KD hit a shot expecting it to be a three-pointer to seal the series. As the shot went in, Brooklyn fans erupted to celebrate the victory. Unfortunately, Durant?s foot was on the three-point line as he took the shot, and the game went to overtime. The Bucks beat Kevin Durant and Co. in overtime, advancing to the Conference Final.
2 years later, Giannis? co-star Khris Middleton praised The Slim Reaper, saying Milwaukee Bucks were ?Lucky? to become the NBA Champion in 2021.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton ended the Milwaukee Bucks? 50-year Championship drought after winning the NBA title in 2021. But their championship dreams were almost shattered by Kevin Durant after the two-time Champion went off for 48 points in Game 7. Khris Middleton talked about KD?s insane performance in that series on the Old Man & The Three Podcast with JJ Redick. After tying the series 2-2 in the first four games, the Bucks lost Game 5 to the Nets after a monstrous 49-point performance by Kevin Durant. Remembering that moment, Middleton revealed that the team was under a lot of pressure to win the next two games, ?Now we have to win two games in a row, knowing that this guy can go off and do what he does again.?
Despite the pressure, Giannis and Co. won back-to-back games to win the series in a 7-game thriller. Talking about KD?s game-tying shot in Game 7 and the Bucks remaining healthy during their 2021 title run, Middleton said, ?You have to be lucky to win a championship also.? If KD?s shoe size was an inch smaller, the result of the series would have been completely different.

Milwaukee Bucks? future depended on their 2021 title run
Khris Middleton also revealed that there was a lot of pressure on the Bucks to win the 2021 NBA title as that determined the future of the team. Building the team with The Greek Freak as the centerpiece for eight years, Bucks fans wanted to see results. If they had not gone on to beat the Phoenix Suns in the finals and win the championship that year, the Bucks front office would probably have made some big changes to the team in the coming season.
