The New York Knicks made headlines when they got 2019 champion, OG Anunoby, from the Raptors. Fourth-seeded in the Eastern Conference, the Knicks currently hold a 24-17 record. With trade discussions getting urgent by the day, it seems like New York is interested in another one of the recent Raptors’ acquisitions.

Bruce Brown Jr., the 6’4 forward-guard, has been on the Knicks’ watchlist. Brown himself had attended his free agency meeting with the franchise earlier. Ian Begley of SNY TV had reported that there was “internal interest” for the 2023 champion.

Toronto got Brown from the Indiana Pacers just a day before. After his successful title run with the Nuggets, the Pacers signed him for a 2-year $45 million deal. Led by the energetic and young Tyrese Haliburton, Brown saw increased responsibilities within the team.

But now, with the Raptors meeting Bruce’s requirements and having a 2x All-Star and an NBA champion of their own in Pascal Siakam to trade, Indiana decided to separate from Brown. The Raptors, for their part, seem to be interested in a rebuild. And if that’s indeed the case, the probability of Siakam’s continued presence on the team seems less likely.

That’s good news for the Knicks.

In exchange for Siakam, the Pacers traded Jordan Nowra, Kira Lewis Jr., and three first-round draft picks to Toronto. So, if NY were to make a somewhat similar offer, there is every chance that Brown will be wearing a Knicks jersey soon.

Their previous trade also ended on good terms. Not to mention the headlines it caused. From Stephen A. to every other fan out there, had something to say on the Anunoby trade. Brown is currently averaging 12.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game this season. Despite his small frame, he uses it to his advantage as a power forward and a shooting guard. If the Knicks were to land him, he would fit perfectly into the Brunson-Randle combo. He can also look forward to taking up more defensive responsibilities.

Aside from the apparent interest, we are yet to know the details of a confirmation from either party. Until then, the Massachusetts native will be in a Raptors uniform.
