The Knicks are faring pretty well this season, climbing to second in leading the Atlantic Division. They are currently on a three-game winning streak and stand at 12-7. They travel to Milwaukee on Tuesday in a head-to-head against the Bucks. This is just the beginning of the journey for the Knicks who will be on the road for almost the entirety of December.

The Knickerbockers have already played five sets of back-to-backs, which is an excessive amount in itself. But they might have to ramp up the energy because they will be doing some traveling this month, including 11 games out of which nine will be on the road. This, along with the Immanuel Quickley situation is giving the Knicks a tough time.

While prepping for the “hell month” as the New York Post puts it, the Knicks officials are in a tight spot regarding their PG Immanuel Quickley. There were reports about possible contract negotiations between the 24-year-old and the officials. A rumor emerged that while Immanuel demanded an average salary of $25 million, the Knicks were only willing to give him about $18 million.

A source, however, “denied the specific numbers” of the negotiations according to the NYP, and it is “still unclear what the difference was.” The fact of the matter is that the two sides could not come to a consensus. As a result, Immanuel becomes a restricted free agent come summer. With his current level of performance, the former All-Rookie Team player should make more than $20 million a year on average.

The Knicks need Immanuel

Immanuel Quickley has played all of the 11 games the Knicks have played so far in the season, averaging 15.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. He is currently fourth in place of the team’s top scorers. He is as important to the team as Jalen Brunson, and the Knicks are better off with him with them. It would be safe to say that he is one of the best young players in the league right now.

He is healthy and consistent in his performances. During the Knicks’ 119-106 win over the Raptors, Immanuel dropped 10 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist. What are the chances that he gets traded before this year’s deadline, or that we see his name in a sign-and-trade during the offseason?
