With a shocking Mikal Bridges move surfacing, the Brooklyn Nets have found a ray of hope! Following the departure of James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant, the Nets fell into a dark tunnel. The team lost all three superstars and also their draft picks for the years to come. Moreover, they don’t even have a single pick in the 2024 NBA Draft even after not qualifying for the postseason. However, the latest trade move will help Joe Tsai, the Nets owner, to resurrect the side. Additionally, this trade sparked a wholesome Villanova reunion with Jalen Brunson & Co.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nets have agreed to trade Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks. In return, the Brooklyn side receives Bojan Bogdanovic, 4 unrestricted first-round picks, a protected 1st-round pick via Bucks, an unprotected pick swap, and a 2nd-rounder. While the Nets lost most of their future picks in an attempt to build a super team, they seemed to have won it all back.

Last year, when Donte DiVincenzo moved to the Knicks, he joined his Villanova teammates, Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart. And, it left Mikal Bridges, another Villanova teammate, as the odd one out. The Knicks trio went after Bridges and trolled him whenever they had the opportunity. Not long ago, Brunson took a dig at Bridges in an interview for the Bleacher Report. In an attempt to roast back his college teammate, who made fun of his head, Brunson said, “Mikal is still in the Nets, so that’s enough roasting we need anyways.”

Interestingly, 12 days after the interview, he ultimately joined his mates. In response to the trade, the 27-year-old took his X handle and wrote, “This is crazy lol.”

In 2021, the Nets lost their 2024 first-round picks to the Houston Rockets in an attempt to trade James Harden. They also lost Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince to the Cavs in the process. Nevertheless, Harden didn’t stay for even an entire season as he moved to the Sixers. In return, the Nets couldn’t undo their mistake, as they also lost their other two superstars. And, to further rub salt to the wounds, the Rockets won the 3rd pick in the draft lottery.

While it seemed like the Nets had no chance of coming back, the latest trade moves have put them right on track. Apart from the Mikal Bridges trade, the team also had a picks trade with the Rockets. In the process, the team got back the 2026 first-round pick which it previously owed the H-Town side. So with the number of draft picks available in the upcoming season, the Brooklyn side once again has the chance to rebuild.

Moreover, Ian Begkey, a veteran reporter, said that the Nets have the “opportunity to obtain top talent” in the next off-season. They have also increased their bargaining power should they want to test the waters for another superstar. Who do you think will fit the Nets team in the next season? Let us know in the comments.
