The Knicks center has accepted fate and rests his trust in God. Mitchell Robinson has had one of the most unfortunate NBA careers. In his six-season-long stint, the 7 ‘0 tall star hasn’t completed a single season unscathed. Despite that, the hooper has always managed to bounce back and return fresh to the new seasons. However, it doesn’t seem to be the case this time, as his return status is still up in the air. During this testing time, the Knicks star penned an emotional note, while his perpetrator gears up with an overpowered team.
The 26-year-old center has been prone to injuries throughout his career, and the Knicks are well aware of it. Last season, Robinson suffered a fracture in his ankle in December and missed 50 games. Luckily, the absence didn’t majorly affect the team, as Isaiah Hartenstien took over the job, and the injured star managed to recover just in time for the postseason. Unfortunately, just 3 games later, the center re-aggravated his ankle injury following an ugly mishap.
While everyone expected Mitchell Robinson to recover in time and return for the upcoming season, the latest update left the Knicks dismayed. A league source told the NY Post, “(Knicks) are being careful not to rush Robinson back until he’s 100 percent healthy, meaning it could be a longer absence depending on the 26-year-old’s recovery,” targeting a potential return in December or January. So, the star’s return could take longer than expected to avoid a serious relapse, again.

Such developments would definitely break anyone’s confidence, whether an athlete or not. However, Mitchell Robinson seemed quite positive in his Instagram stories. The star wrote, “God I got ALOT I want to say, but I’ll just leave it to your hands. Not everything needs a reaction. Peace out,” with Sean McGee’s My Story running in the background. Along with that, in the next story, he shared a picture of a chit that had, “You’re going to make it. God is on your side,” written on it.
Now that Mitchell Robinson is confident about his return, despite it being late, let’s find out how things turned this way for the NY side, the person behind the center’s unfortunate situation, and the aftermath.
Amid the Knicks-Robinson update, former MVP, Joel Embiid was banned soon after the aggravating incident
Firstly, let’s find out the actual reason behind the hooper’s aggravated injury. And the main reason behind it was Joel Embiid. During Game 3 of the 2024 playoff first round, when Knicks forward OG Anunoby passed the ball to Robinson, The Process, who was already on the ground after taking charge, made an ugly play. The Philly center dragged Mitchell’s left leg and pulled him to the ground, receiving a flagrant 1 foul. The Knicks center, who was in immense pain, returned to the locker room and never returned.
This act triggered a lot of reaction from the NY fans, with many of them claiming the Sixer deserved a flagrant 2 foul and worse. Notably, in the Empire State Building, reflecting on the situation, put out a tweet that read, “Joel Embiid has been banned from the Empire State Building.” Especially, Mitchell Robinson himself said, “If I did [Embiid’s takedown], I would’ve been out and suspended… I would’ve been out of there,” critiquing the refs.
