Seems like the Knicks have finally found their mojo back this season. They’ve won three on the bounce, and become the 4th side to qualify for the playoffs after OKC, Celtics, and their opponents for the evening- the Cavaliers. It’s a good sign that they’re able to put in shifts without their main man Jalen Brunson, who’s return is still uncertain. They’d usually look to Karl-Anthony Towns for some magic, but he’s been dealing with injury concerns of his own as of late.
Despite New York losing 4 of their last 10, KAT’s had a run of 6 double-doubles in a row. This run stretches all the way back from their loss to the Spurs on March 20th, which would’ve been a double-double if not for one less board. But that run ended when he missed the Knicks’ last game against the 76ers last night. Will he be fit to play a table topping Cavs side tonight?

Knicks injury report ahead of Cavs clash
That blistering form from KAT man. I didn’t mention that he had a triple-double in that run as well, which was a 26/12/11 statline in a 128-113 win over the Mavs. Funny how much one letter can make a difference; if you change the M to a C, the opponent becomes a fully different beast. With KAT performing how he is and Cleveland’s drop in form, it seems like the perfect stage to get their 4th dub in a row. But he missed out in their win over Philly due to a left knee soreness.

Since NY have a back-to-back, they haven’t put out their updated injury report as of yet. So it’s fair to assume that he’s on a day-to-day basis as of now. “It’s a game-time decision. We’ll take it day by day,” said Knicks HC Tom Thibodeau after the 105-91 win against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Karl-Anthony Towns wasn’t the only absentee at the MSG though. Guards Cameron Payne and Miles McBride were also missed out against the Sixers due to ankle and groin injuries respectively. The game last night meant that Cameron’s spell on the sidelines extended to three games. He’d been scoring 15 points before he left the Clippers game prematurely due to a right ankle sprain. As there is no word on Payne’s status yet, he’s assumed to be day-to-day for tonight.

Miles McBride has missed 6 games due to nursing a left groin strain/contusion. He saw an increase in his role due to the Brunson Burner running out of steam indefinitely. But his groin injury put Payne in the spotlight. And now that Payne is also expected to be out, it narrows Thibs’ options exceptionally. Deuce’s situation is also still uncertain, so he’s on a day-to-day for now as well.
