It’s not often you see a social media comment box sing the same tune. There will always be differing opinions, resulting in some nasty arguments. However, this latest farewell post of the one and only Klay Thompson has nearly the whole world choking up! A short yet deep, heartfelt note to his beloved Bay Area accompanied by a slideshow of some of the most memorable pictures has even the toughest of them break down.
A bond of 13 years finally got to the point where there was no coming back. Despite the criticism and negative comments, despite knowing that Thompson would no longer be a Warrior, the news of his move to Dallas made it all too real. It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to assume that every Dubs fan hoped for a repair of the strained relationship somehow.
Yet his major difficulties from just the past seasons alone would cast a shadow over his time with a dynasty he helped bring back to its former glory. And there’s the Splash Brothers. One of the greatest backcourt duo in the history of basketball! Suffice it to say that Klay touched on every aspect of his Bay life on his farewell note. It couldn’t be more perfect!

“Oh Bay Area , there are not enough words and images to convey how I really feel about yall. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for the best times of my life. It was such an honor to put that Dubs jersey on from day 1. I really just wanted to be the best I could be and help bring as many championships as possible to the region”.
“The best part was not the rings though, it was the friendships I made that will last a lifetime. My family and I would like to thank all of the amazing people who work tirelessly to make the @warriors organization world-class. Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened. Until we meet again. Sea captain out,” Klay Thompson concluded.
In fact, it was enough even to move the fans of an arch-rival to tears!

A fan page dedicated to the Lakers, who bear in mind, offered a contract and a chance to stay back in Cali., was just as affected as the multitude of Warriors faithful. “Damn even I shed a tear,” followed by a smiling face with a tear emoji. This is the first that Thompson has addressed his time with the Warriors since the Mavs news. Up until then, it was all about the reason he left and how an era of spectacular basketball just broke up.
Aside from thousands of GSW fans, the comment section also saw the NBA world come forward with words (or emoticons) of encouragement. Instead of using words, Sydel Curry-Lee, the sister of the Curry brothers and wife of the Suns guard, Damion Lee, commented, “🥺🥺🥺,” deciding they portrayed her emotions better than words.

Damian Jones, the No. 30 first-round pick by the Warriors in 2016, commented, “🙌🏾,” signaling his appreciation for the accomplishments that Klay Thompson has had as well as brought to the Bay.
Former Warriors legend, Andre Iguodala, also had a few words of encouragement for his brother. “And we ain’t done yet!!”
2x ex-NBA champion with the Warriors and now, a consultant for the same franchise, Zaza Pachulia, was full of love. “My brother ❤️❤️❤️,” he commented. Joining Iguodala was a former teammate and NBA great, Kevin Durant. “A Bay Area God. One chapter closes, another one opens. Keep doing u champ.” Having had his fair share of moving around the league and the criticism that comes with it, KD knows exactly what Thompson is going through in his first time moving out of California.
The Pacers legend, Reggie Miller, also had high praise for the 5x All-Star. “True BALLER.”
But it seems like Klay’s friendship extends beyond just basketball.
Former baseball pitcher and 2009 World Series Champion CC Sabathia commented, “Legend!” The New York Jets guard, Alijah Vera-Tucker, was next in line and he had quite the compliment for Klay. “Thank you 11 ! Yall had the whole Bay turnt fr. Especially The Town. Still do !! 🫡 🤟🏾” For those who didn’t know, the Thompson family’s sporting interests extend well beyond the NBA.
The sharpshooter’s brother Trayce, who is currently a free agent, has represented a wide range of teams like the White Sox, Dodgers, Cubs, and a few more. So it’s natural to assume Klay and his family’s journey has touched many lives across the sporting globe!
