Will Klay Thompson's redemption tour eclipse Ja Morant and Damian Lillard's comeback seasons?

“I look forward to just kind of being rejuvenated here — a lot of good basketball left in the tank,” Klay Thompson, the new Dallas Mavericks guard, said after signing the three-year $50 million contract. The Warriors put a two-year $48 million deal on the table for the future Hall of Famer. However, he chose respect over money and the Warriors to get a “fresh start.” The Mavericks already reached the finals last season. And with a new gun in their bolster from the arc, they are favorite contenders for the championship next season. That’s why Klay Thompson may surpass every story of a comeback, especially after the tough last season and all the drama following it.

These are not words coming out of thin air. The Big 5 Hall of Famer Tim Legler himself claimed it on NBA Today. Putting his belief in Klay‘s redemption, Legler said, “I’m going with Klay Thompson. …I think because of his relevance. …The number of shots that he’s going to get as opposed to the number of guys that were taking those same exact shots a year ago. You’re going to see a dramatic difference in Dallas for Klay Thompson.”

Tim was not wrong since, on the Warriors, Stephen Curry was the one calling the shots. However, Klay has a reputation outside the Dubs, and the Mavs will respect him based on that belief. Who knows, the trust might get back the 40% production from the three-point line from Klay Thompson. However, the shooting guard is not the only All-Star ready to present a great comeback story.

Ja Morant, who lost most of the 2023-24 season due to suspension, and Bucks’ Damian Lillard might make a comeback. The NBA All-Stars had their reasons to deliver not-so-best performances, and ex-NBA stars think they’ll compete high for redemption with Klay Thompson.

Ja Morant and Damian Lillard are to be in line with Klay Thompson for reclaiming their NBA entitlement per former NBA stars!

After NBA legend Tim Legler, former NBA champion Richard Jefferson presented his candidate forward for a comeback tale. “I’m gonna say Ja Morant, “ Jefferson claimed from the ESPN platform. It is known that Morant was not present for the NBA In-season tournament period due to his suspension for holding a gun for a second time in a social media video. Yet in the nine games that he got to play, he averaged 25.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 8.1 assists. And the list is not over, as another candidate chimed in later from a former WNBA star.

Chiney Ogwumike. who spent nine seasons in the NBA, stated, “I’m going to go with Dame Lillard.” Well, the WNBA star has her reasons. Lillard averaged 24.3 points while shooting 35.4% from the three-point line. However, he could not match it with the Trail Blazers season he had before it. The point guard had 32.2 points there on 37.1% beyond-the-arc shooting. And allegedly, its credit goes to the left soleus strain of Giannis Antetokounmpo that made him miss the rest of the season after April 9.

After considering the opinion of the NBA stars, Ja Morant might carve a beautiful redemption arc. However, Giannis and Dame need time, as the trade just took place about a year ago. Out of all of them, Klay Thompson has got the best chance due to his acuteness and psychological advantage after a change. Considering what he expressed after the trade, we might see Mavs winning the title.
