The Warriors, after a day of rest, met the Big 4 of the Clippers head-on tonight. Despite the lack of key players like Chris Paul and Gary Payton II, the Dubs rallied to land a brilliant victory. Klay Thompson managed to put his skills on display vs the LA.
Off to a slow start, Thompson soon picked up pace and never looked back. Here’s what changed this time around.
1. Klay Thompson turns back the clock

The Splash Brothers were on a hot streak tonight. The fans were treated to the electrifying performance that they have come to associate with the two. And Klay Thompson deserves special mention here.
Scoring just seven points in the first half, everyone was sure this would be just another one of Klay’s subpar performances. But by the fourth quarter, the man in question took off. Landing 11 points in the 4th round alone, he had 22 points, two assists, and six rebounds.
2. Paul George’s dry spell is a major concern for the Clippers
The Clippers have a vast depth of talent in their roster now. One might say too much to do justice by each. And while LA’s Big 4 are trying their best to fit into their roles, it’s an ongoing struggle. Particularly for Paul George. The six-game losing streak the team had to face after the Harden trade was also a time of frustration.
George’s stats in the last three games have been particularly concerning. Barely scoring 20 in those games, PG13 has been in somewhat of a dry spell this month. Averaging 22.3 points in November, the 2023-24 season average is just slightly better – 23.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.
3. Warriors’ depth came alive in two veterans’ absence
The Warriors took the floor underhanded, with Chris Paul, Andrew Wiggins, and Gary Payton II out due to injuries. Yet the Dubs crushed the Clippers to extend their home winning streak to 3. And the win has to be credited to the Warriors’ bench in large part.

Jonathan Kuminga led the bench with 17 points. The trio of Saric, Podziemski, and Kuminga contributed to 43 of 44 bench points. They outscored LA’s reserves by 13 points. The GSW’s shooting prowess was on full display from beyond the arc as well. Curry, Green, Thompson, Kuminga, Saric, and Podziemski united for 15 three-pointers.
LA tried to get an upper hand towards the end, but Moses Moody brought an end to any plans they had with a winning dunk. It has become quite clear that the younger Warriors are thriving under the veteran players and a combined 9x NBA champion coach.
