If there’s one person the Dallas Mavericks fans hate now, it’s Nico Harrison. It’s simple math, he traded Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis. Well, the community may not hate AD, but they are yet to move on from the heartbreak. Luka, the magician, the heart and soul of Dallas. Fans have been furious since February 2, and their flames of anger continue to add more blisters to the franchise. Thus, someone had to speak up. And, Klay Thompson took on the responsibility.

Fans are actively boycotting the franchise, the coach, and everyone involved in the mega trade. On Tuesday, some Doncic die-hard named Jacob Posner started a GoFundMe titled ‘Dallas Deserves Better: Anti-Nico and Adelson Billboards.’ But that’s not all, the GM’s safety has been at risk lately. Simply put, the franchise is in a tough spot.

Thus appearing before the media, Klay Thompson had a simple plea to the Mavs fans. The ex-Warriors superstar who knows what it feels like to leave a franchise you’ve contributed to. Therefore, speaking from his experiences, the Captain spoke. “Probably a lot of heartbreak amongst the fans, probably some booze. But as a professional, you gotta embrace everything and remember we’re paid to play this game and perform at the highest level. So I don’t know what to expect,” Klay Thompson said.

He added: “I know Luka was so dear to every Mavs fan’s heart. But we just gotta win and do it on a consistent basis and give ourselves a chance to win the whole thing. And that I think will alleviate all the fans’ pain and anger. So it’s gonna be weird, but that’s what we signed up for.”

Amidst the heartbreak and fear of losing the fans, Klay Thompson is asking for a second chance. He wants the supporters to rekindle their faith in the franchise and watch them win more games. And surely, winning the championship this season would help them move past their anger. Despite the weird spot without Luka Doncic, Thompson urged his fans to keep faith.

But, the concerns about the GM’s security aren’t subsiding any time soon. The Dallas community is angry, they’re on the streets protesting against Nico Harrison’s decision to trade off Doncic. And all anyone can do at this moment is convince the fans to calm down.

There have been racial epithets included in some of those. Certainly, security’s going to be beefed up… Nico Harrison is not going to be in his normal seat in the stands. There’s no reason to subject him to that kind of security risk.”
