Klay Thompson is coming back to the Bay. Oh! He’s not going to wear his Golden State Warriors jersey anymore. But he’s back for not just another matchup. Instead, a big night awaits. Surely, the game between the Dallas Mavericks and the Warriors would be a major event for Sunday. However, the time has come for Andre Iguodala’s ‘knighting.’ Yes, it’s time for that jersey No. 9 to go up on the rafters at Chase Center. Thus solidifying Iggy’s name as a Dubs legend.
Right after the game on Feb. 23, the Warriors will honor the 41-year-old former star, with Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Captain Klay in attendance. What a perfect day for the Splash Bros to reunite, right? But, you know what’s more interesting? Klay didn’t know they’d be in the Bay Area on the night of the jersey retirement. However, the 35-year-old shooting guard is looking forward to celebrating his former teammate. Just like Iguodala supported him on his first game vs. the Warriors in November 2024.
Thus speaking with The Dallas Morning News, Klay Thompson said: “That would be cool to see. Andre deserves it and he’s obviously one of the best players in franchise history for the Dubs [Warriors]. Without him, there would be no championships.” Thompson further added: “I learned so much from him, especially off the court. He started the trend of us being able to acquire talent in the offseason. He kind of broke the ice with that; he took a big gamble in coming to join us.”

Klay Thompson’s homecoming in style
Do you remember what earned Klay Thompson the nickname “Captain Klay” during his time with the Golden State Warriors? Well, the 35-year-old Dallas star isn’t just a sharpshooter on the court—he’s also the captain of his own adventure. He earned the nickname “Captain Klay” by cruising across the San Francisco Bay in his 37-foot fishing boat, turning every home game journey into a nautical escape. However, it’s been a while since we saw Thompson put on his sailor’s hat and cruise across the Bay.
But not anymore! Sharing an IG Story, Thompson has informed the world that he is picking up his old habits. Simply put, he’s back on his fishing boat, returning to San Francisco ahead of Sunday’s big matchup. Speaking of the game, Klay Thompson has made it clear that he “wants to win so badly in Dallas.” It’s like he wants to prove a point to Steve Kerr and Co., that he can do wonders without them.
