The next generation is coming! The 2003 draft class produced some of the greatest talent the league had ever seen. But now, only LeBron James remains the sole active player from that historic class. And it might soon be time for his sons to take over. While his kids seem set to pursue the NBA path like their dad, many fans believe LBJ’s parenting might get outdone by his fellow draft class member Carmelo Anthony. Yes, with Kiyan Anthony and Bryce James being the same age, fans questioned LeBron’s parenting as Melo’s son recently took over New York City.

As LA began preparations for Mamba Day, NYC was already busy hosting the SLAM Summer Classic at the iconic Rucker Park. Sure enough, Kiyan Anthony also brought his talent to the “trenches” and the son of the Knicks legend balled out beyond everyone’s expectations. Be it his slick handles or his insane athleticism to even his step-back threes, it seemed like there was nothing he couldn’t do on the offensive end. And the highlights quickly went viral on socials.

Meanwhile, on the West Coast, Bryce James was also showing off his talents over the weekend by participating in the second annual Mamba League invitational tournament on the occasion of Kobe Bryant’s birthday. However, his team was completely stacked with several top prospects including Tyran Stokes, Jason Crowe Jr., and Baba Oladotun. And Bryce’s latest showing comes over a month after his underwhelming Peach Jam performance where he averaged 5.6 points in five games. With LeBron and Melo’s sons playing ball on the same weekend, there were bound to be comparisons, and the fans seemed to side with the Knicks legend’s parenting skills.

Kiyan Anthony’s NYC performance outshines Bryce and Bronny James

Seeing Kiyan Anthony dominate in one of the most famous basketball parks in the world, many fans were impressed by his game. And analyzing his skills at just 17 years old, some even deemed him better than LeBron’s older son Bronny James, who has already made it to the NBA as a Laker, “This is what Bronny is missing.”

What’s your perspective on:

Is LeBron James failing as a parent by not pushing Bronny and Bryce like Carmelo does with Kiyan?

Sharing the same sentiment, another netizen picked Kiyan over Bronny because he believes, unlike LeBron, Melo is making his son play in tough situations, which would make him more league-ready. Sure enough, there have already been concerns about Bronny’s underwhelming freshman season at USC where he averaged only 4.8 points.

Another fan appreciated Melo for making his son learn the hard way by playing against more raw players in the park. Then, he even accused LeBron of letting Bronny go on vacation and making TikTok instead of working on his game.

Mesmerized by Kiyan Anthony’s love for the game and his amazing work ethic, one fan even went as far as to say that he was the only basketball player’s son he had hoped for to make it big. While Bronny has already made it to the league and there is still one year left before Kiyan even goes to college, many fans have faith in Melo’s son to surpass the Lakers rookie.

Meanwhile, one netizen, without naming any young player, deemed Kiyan a better player. But since he is often compared to Bryce and they are in the same class of 2025, the fan was likely talking about LeBron’s son.
