The Phoenix Suns rallied back in their most recent matchup against the Washington Wizards to win the game. A matchup that was supposed to be an easy win turned out to be more than what the Suns bargained for as both Kevin Durant and Devin Booker went on to talk about the team’s current situation. The New York Knicks humiliated the Suns in their last matchup.

So, it was natural for Phoenix to come back and protect its home court, and that’s exactly what Devin Booker emphasized in his post-game interview.

The Phoenix Suns were barely able to put their matchup against the Washington Wizards in the win column. The Suns defeated the Wizards with a final score of 112-108, that too after making a late-game push. The outcome of the game would’ve been entirely different had someone from the Wizards taken over the game late in the fourth quarter. But it was the Suns’ effort on both offense and defense that sealed the deal. After the game, All-Star guard Devin Booker spoke to the media. While talking, he said, You want to protect home court and New York came in here and kicked our a** on our home court and we were on our way to that after the 1st two-quarters tonight. We just got to get it together.

The Suns were down by 16 points at the halfway interval. Had Phoenix not locked down in the second half of the game, the Wizards were well on their way to win the meeting between the two teams.

It was the Suns’ stars that carried the game with Kevin Durant pouring in 28 points along with Booker’s 27-point performance. But a nervy win against a bottom-seeded Wizards side raises one question.

The matchup prior to the Wizards was when the Suns met the New York Knicks. The game was fairly even for the first two quarters. It wasn’t until the second half that New York kicked it into high gear and ran away with the game. Jalen Brunson had a career-high on the Suns home court, humiliating Phoenix with a 50-point performance. So, the bashing they received in their previous matchup was what compelled the Suns to double down in the second half of their game against the Wizards.

But their worries don’t end there. The newly assembled Big 3 of Beal-Booker-Durant has only played one game together. Booker and Beal have been plagued by injuries and have missed plenty of games. The scoring burden has been squarely placed on KD’s shoulders, and an off game for him more often than not translates to an off game for the team.

Phoenix will be facing the Portland Trail Blazers next. And after their performance tonight, one can only wonder if the Suns will have trouble closing that game too. What do you think will be the outcome of their next game?
