Kevin Durant has made the case for the greatest basketball to have ever played for Team USA. The Slim Reaper is now an all-time leader in points scored in the Olympics. In the game against Puerto Rico, Durant also became the all-time leader in rebounds. Clearly, Durant knows his way around international competition. Not only that, but this is his fourth consecutive Olympic appearance. The last three fetched three gold medals, and if Team USA wins it all the way this year, Durant will be the only player in the men’s Olympic basketball to have four gold medals.

However, for Durant, these accomplishments aren’t as big of an achievement. His mother, Wanda, has been Kevin’s biggest fan ever since. Knowing how much he loves the game, Wanda talked about Durant’s true feelings behind his many accomplishments.

“I was so excited about it. And Kevin said to me, ‘Mom, you know that’s not what I do this for.’ I know it’s not what he does it for, but his family and friends were so excited for another accomplishment of his. But he’s so modest, even we as his family and friends and fans want to celebrate him. That’s who he is.”, said Wanda. At the end of the day, Durant is one of the players who isn’t solely inclined towards such accomplishments. The two-time champ has given the game his best version and the return from the same are these proud accolades under his name.

As Durant continues to make the best out of his talents on the court, his mother also revealed his motivating factor. “He has experience with not giving up and not quitting. He has experience of accomplishing great things through the heartaches and obstacles of life. It still drives him now.”, said Wanda. KD is one of the most hated players in the league. Whether it’s about his two championships in Golden State or his decent stint with the Nets, the criticism never seems to take a break on the Slim Reaper. However, in the Olympics, players get to showcase their true talents, and that’s exactly what Durant has shown.

Kevin Durant’s fourth Olympic run couldn’t have been better

Making his fourth Olympic appearance, KD initially suffered an injury, which prevented him from participating in the exhibition games. However, he made his return in the first group-stage game against Serbia, dropping 23 points with an almost perfect shooting from the field. Now, this came after Durant and the Suns were swept by the Wolves in the first round. The early playoff exit raised a lot of questions surrounding KD’s career moving forward. Well, the 35-year-old still has it in his tank!
