Phoenix Suns player Kevin Durant is someone whose interests do not lie just around the scope of a basketball court. Just like many of his previous counterparts like Shaquille O’Neal and Damian Lillard, the athlete is known to have made a noticeable mark in the world of music, especially rap and hip hop. Having a foothold in that world allowed him to be on friendly terms with some of the best rappers that the world has had to offer. It was a fact that fans were recently reminded of, thanks to a social media post by the player himself.
A few hours ago, Durant took to his official Instagram account to share a story with his 13.4 million followers. It featured the two-time NBA champion exchanging a casual greeting with 16-year-old Johan Jackson, son of legendary American Rapper John David Jackson aka Fabolous. While the athlete was clad in an all-black attire, the teenager had opted for a bright white sweater underneath a grey jacket and a gold chain adorning his neck.
Even though Durant was interacting with a teenager, he seemed to have gotten some pretty adult vibes from his new friend. This led him to write a caption alongside his story, which read: “My dog 16 but move like he 36. Smooth brother here”.

Fabolous’s son has been an admirer of the NBA for quite some time now. This was apparent from his previous social media posts in which he was seen attending the recent All-Star weekend and being lucky enough to capture a moment alongside players like Anthony Edwards, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, LeBron James etc. While fans might have been aware of the 46-year-old’s interest in basketball, they would have also been glad to see his offspring rub shoulders with some of the best that the NBA has had to offer.

Kevin Durant has made use of his rap skills to collaborate alongside prominent celebrities like Stalley, Drake, Lil Wayne etc. Many people may not be aware, however, that Durant’s journey into the music world began alongside another prominent NBA star.
Back in 2017, ESPN released a report that seemed to confirm that Durant and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James had collaborated on a secret hip-hop track back in 2011. The report stated that the two “music junkies” had worked on the then-unreleased track by deciding to “kill some time” between workouts “by writing their own lyrics and heading to the booth”.

While Durant reportedly seemed to deny the existence of such a song back then, it didn’t take long for the truth to come out. Within a year, the track, titled “It Ain’t Easy” was released to the general public by producer Franky Wahoo.
By the time the song came out, the two players had been on-court rivals for quite some time. Therefore, it would have been a great feeling for fans to witness the rivals sharing a microphone and dropping some eye-catching beats.
