Even though Team USA is busy in their pursuit of winning a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, they occasionally get some free time to take their minds off the on-court competition. But it looks like their competitive gene never leaves them, even during their off time. As they prepare for their next encounter against Puerto Rico, Team USA decided to cool off with an intense session of Call of Duty. But for seasoned veteran Kevin Durant, the gaming session turned into a nightmare as he was humiliated by his own squad despite his ‘addiction’ to the game.

Giving a sneak peek into their private COD Black Ops 6 competition, Tyrese Haliburton shared a picture of himself on his IG story while publicly trolling KD with the caption, “@easymoneysniper was getting cooked.” And that is surprising considering KD revealed on the Boardroom podcast earlier this year that he spends a lot of his free time mastering the iconic first-person shooter game, “Playing the game, we’re on Call of Duty heavily right now. Sh*t’s so addicting bro.”

But it seems like Haliburton’s claim was telling only one side of the story because KD soon clapped back with his own version by sharing a picture of himself with the COD ‘Round Win’. “Slidin on my opp @tyresehaliburton in #blackops6 @callofduty.” KD wrote. Surely, they don’t call him Easy Money Sniper for nothing! Just like his dominance on the basketball court, Durant also managed to get some instant kills on the console. While Durant and Haliburton continued to embarrass each other on socials, their teammate Anthony Edwards also made a massive claim on his IG, “1 on #blackops6.” With all the superstars cooking up a different story, we might never know who actually dominated the COD session.

NBA Players and their love for Call of Duty

Well, this is not the first time NBA players have used their gaming skills to build team chemistry and enjoy the rest days. As it turns out, Call of Duty sessions are a regular occurrence for multi-millionaire athletes. Moreover, KD even advised others to build their own gaming community while revealing his COD addiction, “Get you a gaming crew man. Dudes that I’ve never even seen before but we talk and vibe every day on just the game and it feel like they my friends now. So, when I see them, it’s gonna be so much love. You know what I’m saying? It’s a real community man.”

Meanwhile, other big-name athletes, including LeBron James and Anthony Davis, also enjoy a good COD session. “Man, this Call of Duty Black Ops 2 got me so hooked to the tv and joystick! Even @SavannahRB watching and she hate when I play video games.” LBJ tweeted in 2012, revealing that he has been a COD guy for over a decade. And his Lakers teammate D’Angelo Russell recently claimed that a good COD crew can solve everything, “It’s going to be good nights, bad nights. Overtime losses, overtime wins… All this f**kery gonna happen. If you and the homies on the court, and y’all got that lobby off the floor on that Call of Duty, y’all got that lobby right? It’s gonna be a good time.” And hopefully, Team USA’s chill COD session will help them continue their dominance in Paris.
