Finally, something to cheer about for the Suns! They headed into tonight’s Sixers clash with a four-game losing streak. Another loss would have put them in a deeper hole as they aim to rise above the 12th spot in the West standings. That’s why Mike Budenholzer made a drastic change in his rotation. He made Bradley Beal and Jusuf Nurkic come off the bench instead of starting the game. It happened for the first time in their Suns tenure. Lo-and-behold, the move helped them snap the losing streak. Turns out, the Suns had a big team meeting before making that bold decision.

Yes, making the shocking revelation during the postgame interview, Kevin Durant said, “We spoke as a team over the last couple of days on what type of team we wanted to be and what we wanted to see moving forward.”

When asked what was discussed in that meeting, KD revealed, “Normal basketball conversations. Talking over things that we see out there. We got high IQ guys and we all understand why we lose. We know why we win games and we know why we lose. When you can understand why you win or lose games, it’s always good for your group to put that out on the table.”

Maybe, the discussion led to Beal and Nurkic’s eventual benching. Fortunately, it worked in the team’s favor as they blew the Sixers out by ten points.

Moreover, Beal turned out to be the star of the show as he led his team in scoring with 25 points. Even Nurkic had a decent showing with 5 points and seven rebounds in only fourteen minutes. But the win does not mean Beal is okay with losing his starting spot from now on.

Is benching Beal and Nurkic the game-changer the Suns needed to climb the standings?

Bradley Beal was “100 percent” surprised after Mike Budenholzer’s decision, claims he is a Starter

Although benching Beal led to a victory for the Suns, the decision might not have sat well with the superstar. During the postgame interview, he revealed he was “100 percent” surprised when he figured he would not start the game. “Coach made a decision. I’m not going to sit there and argue with him,” said Beal.

He continued, “I’m not going to sit here and be a distraction. I’m not going to sit here and be an a——.”

Sure, Beal did what was asked of him tonight. But that might not be the case from now on as he remarked, “I’m a starter in the league, I firmly believe that. No disrespect to anybody, but I’m a starter.” Although he can’t shoot like Kevin Durant, Beal is an efficient scorer. He can make the Spurs tick because of his ability to make shots.

Well, if Beal is not on the same page with Budenholzer, it could motivate him to waive his no-trade clause and look for a trade. Maybe that’s what the Suns want as they look to trade him for another superstar. Addressing the possibility of his benching being linked to recent trade rumors, Beal said, “If so, I need to be addressed because I hold the cards. Until I’m addressed and somebody says something different, then I’ll be a Sun.”

Obviously, Beal holds the power to decide his future, and benching him could rub him the wrong way and lead to a potential trade before the February deadline. Do you agree?
